Science – Rebeccah Haines 7 th  year teaching at MCMS National Board Certified Notre Dame fan 6 th  Grade science topics: Solar System, Geological cycles, Energy transfer and transformation, Cycling of matter, Population Dynamics
Language Arts – Rachel Fickle Our projects include:  Reading Dialogue Journal (due each Monday) Book Talks on Fridays! One hour writings  Poetry 1 st  year at MCMS Originally from SC! Moved here in April. Our language arts department is using the readers & writers workshop model to maximize differentiation and challenge students on their level.
Social Studies – Matt Riddle 2 nd  year at MCMS I am the loud one Social Studies topics include: Geography, Topography, South America, Europe and Russia.
Math – Sue Myers Graduated from Ohio State University a long time ago! Moved from Winston Salem this summer Math topics include negatives, percents, graphing, equalities and inequalities

This is a year long program designed to improve students’ basic math knowledge while reinforcing the current curriculum they are being taught. The goal of the program is to improve their knowledge of math where deficient, provide them with tools to learn and retain math concepts and to bring them up to grade level standards in mathematics. In 6 th  Grade Band, Students will…… Learn the different parts of their instrument Make their first sounds on the instrument Learn their first scale (Concert Bb). Perform their first concert in less than 2 months (Thurs Oct. 22, 7:00 pm) Build a strong musical foundation and gain the tools necessary to perform more difficult music in their 7 th  and 8 th  Grade Years! Gain an appreciation for music that will continue for the rest of their lives. Design and Modeling This class focuses on Solid Modeling, which is a technique to create 3 dimensional models. The class is broken down into 5 main units 1. Introduction to Technology 2. Design Process  3. Sketching and Views 4. 3D Computer Modeling 5. Prototype Fabrication Students will learn problem solving skills using a design approach in a project based learning environment.
Fundraisers Please help MCMS raise funds, while shopping for items you already buy! Lowes Foods Gift Cards are available tonight and throughout the year.  They are being sold for  $50.00 and redeemable at any Lowes Foods Store.  Our school receives 6% for each sale! Carteret Craven Electric Cooperative has donated energy efficient light bulbs to our school.  Please consider replacing your bulbs with those we have for sale at $2.00 each.  These light bulbs are for sale tonight and throughout the year in our office.  Our school receives 100% of the profit! Proceeds from all of our fundraisers will support our new portable laptop computer lab! Thank you for you generous support of our school!
