Illustrator
Sony HXR-MC2500E
High quality camera which can maintain a solid
focus even from a distance, perfect for our main
piece based on a sporting documentary. Built in
microphone meant no problems for sound.
Microphone would turn on automatically when
camera is switched on. Instant playback on clips
was very helpful when wanting to know if the
correct clips were taken. Option to use manual
focus came in handy when trying to get footage
of the team photo. Built in light allows for good
footage to be taken in low lighting. Good
distance zoom allowed good quality footage to
be taken at a distance.
Libec TH-650HD (Tripod)
Tripod provided ease to numerous height levels, with the option to adapt the heights of
each leg for varied surfaces. Especially important for our group as it allowed us to get a
straight shot even on uneven ground, such as a grass pitch. Option below top of tripod
allowed for a very easy change of level of the camera using the spirit level provided. On top
of tripod were camera slides on there were locks that would click in which preventing the
camera from falling, especially important for when we had to move the camera quickly to
get a new shot or avoid the training.
Kodak PlayFull (Handheld Camera)
Camera used for the practice task. We decided to shoot using a
more handheld camera as it allowed us to gain the shots we
wanted to. The practice task we completed followed an on
screen documentarian which meant an easy handheld camera
worked much better than the bigger Sony, we used for the real
task. In addition the camera itself was of a good quality, shoots
in 1080p and provides an option for instant playback which
allowed for analysis of shots before we got to editing.
IPhone (Microphone)
IPhone was very easy to use and picked up a
good quality sound when inside. This made a
good tool for recording the voice over for the
radio advert and little bits of sound such as the
whistle used at the end. The ancillary task
concentrated less on the quality of sound as
there was background noise and music which
meant a drop in quality could be appreciated
for the ease and accessibility of recording.
Final Cut Pro x
Final Cut Pro X is a very well structures editing
software which provided us with a good range
of editing tools. We looked at the use of colour
correction, sound and volume tweaking, clip
shortening and editing and a variety of pre-
built in sound clips.
Garage Band
Garage Band is a tool created by Apple Inc. It
offers a quick and easy access to hundreds on
sound bites and allows a great ease when
clipping sound bites together and over layering
our different parts. The voice over was easy
enough to add through the ability to upload
sounds from a USB, via the apple iPhone charging
cord.
Photoshop
Photoshop was used to create our poster
examples, such as the London Bus and the bus
stop poster. It was easy enough to cross between
illustrator and Photoshop as they are both
created by Adobe. It allowed export options to
then allow us to post onto our blog as a photo.
Illustrator
Illustrator was used to create the ancillary task
of the Poster. We used illustrator because it
had good clipping tools and our group was
familiar with it due to other subjects (graphics).
This meant for a good quality finished product
to a high professional standard.
Research
Total: 6 Technologies
Apple Mac Desktop
Google Chrome
Microsoft Word
Microsoft PowerPoint
Weebly
YouTube
Apple Mac Desktop
The use of the Apple Mac was decided as it held all
the tools we needed to create our main text and
ancillary tasks. It offers Final Cut Pro X, Garage Band
and easy download to Google Chrome and both
Adobe software's for the poster. It had numerous
USB ports which was helpful when importing
footage and saving to other external devices.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome is a downloaded software and search
engine. It allows for a much easier use as there is no
need to continually update flash player (like internet
explorer) to watch YouTube Videos to analysis or
work on websites such as Prezi.
Microsoft Word
Microsoft word was used in the research stage to create
word based documents before uploading to Weebly. In
addition to this it allowed a good format to create
documents and set out texts, to then embed onto the
Weebly site through a site called Scribd.
Microsoft PowerPoint
Similar to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint was a good
format to create documents and present them
onto the blog via the website SlideShare.
Weebly
Weebly is the website we used to display all our
research, planning and final task. With the addition
to ancillary tasks and evaluation questions. The
software was simple, it allowed for a quick click and
drag on a number of options, such as; embed codes,
YouTube clips, text and titles. All these options and
others provided allowed for a good quality finished
product and a well structured website. In addition to
this, Weebly offered an IOS app which allowed for a
very fluent transfer of location shots onto the
website, and a constant update even on the go. Very
clinical in the creating of the weekly diary entries.
YouTube
YouTube was used in the research process as a
format to analyse videos. It provides a format to
watch a vast number of videos which was especially
prevalent to us as we analysed two rugby
documentaries in depth which were both shared on
different sporting channels on YouTube. Bt sport
and the Red Bull channel.

Microsoft Word
Microsoft Word was used in the planning stage to
create scripts and other documents needed. In
addition to this it was used to send documents
across via email to other group members.
Microsoft PowerPoint
Also similar to the research section, Microsoft
PowerPoint was used in a similar manner to Microsoft
Word. PowerPoint was a good format in the planning
stage as it layered everything and all our ideas in a
good place
Weebly
Weebly in the planning stage was solely used as a
sharing platform. It provided good tools which
were easy to use and learn quickly. This in turn
allowed for a good quality finished product with
in depth planning.
Scribd
Scribd allows for an upload of word
documents onto the internet which
can then be embed onto the
website. Furthermore, due to the
way it is shared online it meant that
our whole group could benefit from
this.
Slideshare
Slide Share is very similar to Scribd, in the
sense it allowed the uploading of
PowerPoints to add a different element to
the analysis and create the blog on a new
manner, giving a professional feel. It also
allowed for group sharing and easy
transfer to blog.
TimeToast
I found it very hard to find a timeline creator on the
internet. After trying many different options I found
TimeToast. It was very easy to pick up and use with
added features which could have come in handy if I
was to complete a big task like this again, such a
loactions.
Whatsapp
Whatsapp was our groups sole form of
communication outside word of mouth. We had
numbers set up from past chats so the creation
process was very easy. It involved myself simply
pressing one button then adding the number then
clicking create. From here we used the chat to
organise filming and we partook in a communication
to organise media days to complete work outside the
given lesson time and also to collaborate ideas for the
blog, planning stages and evaluation.
Pixton
Pixton was used in the planning stage to create an
animated storyboard. This allowed for us to capture
our ideas in a much more detailed manner. The
contrast between and electronic storyboard and
written was very helpful in deciding and finalising
ideas for the final product.
Evaluation
Total: 6 Technologies
Weebly
Google Chrome
Youtube
Pictaculous (Colour Pallette)
Microsoft Word
Microsoft PowerPoint
Weebly
Weebly for the evaluation allowed for similar
interactions as before. Easy to use drag options and
showed the pieces and text in a very professional
well. Furthermore, it had options for drop down
menus which allowed me to separate each
evaluation question and concentrate on provided
the best range of presentation, using all the tools
available.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome allowed me to use a variety of
different technologies when answering the four
evalution questions. The browser was quick and
simply to use and I had no problems with it.
YouTube
YouTube in the evaluation was used to gain a further
knowledge into each evaluation question. In
addition to this it was used as a tool to look at more
in depth the possible lines of evaluation we could
use.
Pictaculous (Colour Palette)
I used Pictaculous as a different form to
analyse and evaluate my poster, used in the
evaluation question 2. This allowed me to link
my finished product with professionally done
products. The website was very easy to use
and allowed for a great contrast of images
and colours.
Microsoft Word
Both Microsoft Word and PowerPoint worked in the
same way as they have before for the evaluation. To
display and format texts and present arguments and
analysis. In addition it allowed for an easy sharing
within the group.
Microsoft PowerPoint
Both Microsoft Word and PowerPoint worked in the same
way as they have before for the evaluation. To display and
