Introduction
 Conventional models of education have imparted knowledge to learners for many decades without a
commendable change in knowledge delivery.
 The incorporation of virtual reality in education has completely transformed the way education is
delivered to students.
 The world is ready to accept VR as the way forward in educating students due to the need for a
revolutionary change in education.
 Let’s look at things that have or will change by implementing VR in education.
2D to 3D
 Education was delivered to students in 2 dimensions for many decades with the use of boards and
textbooks.
 It continued even after the invention of 3D technology which was mostly limited to entertainment,
military, and civilian applications.
 The advent of virtual reality in education is the starting point of 3D technology’s foray into the
education space, completely redefining the learning experience.
 3D-based learning eliminated the limitations in 2D learning and helped students get the real-world
idea of subjects leading to improved understanding of concepts.
Adhering to multiple senses
 Conventional models did address more than one sense when it came to educating students but was
not sufficient.
 Students of this generation found conventional models of learning vague and were not paying
attention to subjects.
 The visual appeal of the virtual reality-based learning solution not only enticed students with it but
also adhered to other human senses.
 This trait of VR helped students to experience and understand education rather than just vaguely
learning things that were confusing sometimes.
Different perception
 We live in a 3-dimensional world and learning everything related to the world in 2 dimensions is no
longer good enough.
 As mentioned above, virtual reality-based education presents subjects or topics in three dimensions
helping learners understand close-to-real digital reproductions.
 This difference in perception fills out the voids in learning that previously existed in two-dimensional
learning.
 This perception helps students to explore the real nature of subjects and helps them understand
complex topics with greater ease.
Real-time comprehension
 Understanding the real shape of the subject is quite different than understanding its real-time
application.
 Virtual reality in education helps students experience both scenarios through its visual capabilities.
 Any student who learns a subject should have the opportunity to apply the knowledge in real-time
scenarios and draw outcomes.
 Virtual reality-based education has propelled students a few steps closer to achieving this.
Conclusion - Immersive engagement
 Visual immersion is a key trait of virtual reality-based education where students are immersed in the
learning environment.
 The most interesting thing about VR-based learning is that students become a part of the subject or
the environment digitally reproduced by VR.
 Also, VR enables them to interact with the learning environment making it even more appealing.
 This model exponentially increases the engagement levels of students and helps to eliminate
distractions.
