This can have a marked impact on
students’ pace of learning.
Access to the students including those to
the side and the rear is important so that the
teacher can
• Check oral and written work.
• Give individual attention
• Physically involve students.

To have high expectations for your students, you must demonstrate
and model high expectations for yourself and how you operate.
Maximize student learning by making the most of the time you have
with them.
Make the most of all the time you have with your students and show
that you value their time by being prepared with tasks, resources and
work that is meaningful and relevant. Don’t waste time on trivial
activities, busy work and fillers. Make every moment count!
When you keep students engaged in meaningful learning, there is
less likelihood that they will become bored, distracted and disruptive.
So it’s a win/win!
Here are 9 strategies that you can incorporate into
your daily routine so that learning time is maximized
consistently:
Do Now Activities.
 Early finishers.
 Marking the roll.
 Talk less.
Provide structures for group/paired work.
Teach those who need it
Give clear directions combined with visual supports.
Encourage students to rely on each other.
Telling is not teaching.

The best approach is the
blend of all approaches.
The teacher can use
strategy of any according
to the feasibility and
keeping in mind the aim
of enhancing and
increasing the pace of
learning.
Blended Learning-Centered
Focus is on HOW the students are learning
Focus is on learning how to use knowledge in different ways
Students and teacher interact regularly with each other and the
information
Classroom alternates between quiet and conversations
Desired learning is assessed while teaching (CFUs: check for
understanding) and through both tests and papers/projects
