How to Use Basecamp

Open your browser

Type in “basecamp.com”

You will be directed to the
Basecamp site

Click the “Free trial” button

Then fill out this form

Enter your full name

The name of your company

Your e-mail address

And your password

Then click “Start Free Trial”

You can now start exploring
Basecamp

Just click “Explore”

Here now is the main menu
of your account

Let’s now start creating a
project

Start by clicking”New
Project”

This form will appear

Give your project a name

Then if you want, you can also
put

a brief description or
additional details about it

Working on a project is
easier

if you do it with others

So let’s now invite some
people to your team

Write the e-mail addresses
of your team

Tick this box

If you want to include a
message to them

Then click “Start the project”

Here now is your created
project

You can now create your
Discussions

your To-do list

your Files

your Text documents

and your Events

Inside the project that you
created!

Let’s start with “Discussion”

When you click it, you will
see this page

Enter the subject of the
discussion

Click on the body then
type your message

You can also attach some
files

Click “Select files from your
computer”

Locate the file that you
want to attach

Then double click it

Wait for the file to upload

Below are options you can
choose from

Choose this if you want a
mail

to be sent to your team

Click this if you want to
choose

Who among the members
will receive an e-mail

If you simply want it to be
posted on Basecamp

Click this

Then click “Post this
message”

This is how it looks like in the
project page

You will see that these
parts were updated

You can directly click on the
discussion subject

Then you will see this

You can now start
discussing about it with
your team

You can write your messages
inside the discussion box

Let’s now try making a “To-
do list”

Click “To-do list”

Then it will go just below
the “Discussion”

Give it a title

Then click this button

Then click on this part

Then write a to-do item

You can assign a specific
person to do the task

By clicking the drop-down
menu

Set the a due date by
clicking this

You can also attach any file
by clicking “Attach files”

Then click “done” when
finished

Let’s now create an
“Event”

When you click it

A calendar will appear

See this to-do list that we
made earlier?

All to-do lists are synchronized
with the calendar

To add a new event

Click on a specific date for
this to appear

Give it a title

Add additional information
below the title

Set the date by clicking this

If you want the event to
be repeated

click the drop-down menu
then choose from the options

Click on this box to add
e-mail recipient

Or simply type “Everyone”

For all the members to be
notified

Set the reminder by clicking
the drop-down menu

And when done, click
“Add this event”

There goes the event that
you created

When you go back to the
main project menu

You will see this reminder
on the right side

about the event that you
just made

Let’s now create a Text
document

This is the document page

Click here to add a title

Click on the body and start
typing anything

You can change the styles by
clicking the menu above

When done, click “Save
this document”

Then go back to the
project page

by clicking the project title

Notice that everything has
been updated already

Everything that you input
will be shown on the page

Now, let’s look at the
“Everything” page

Upon clicking, you will see
this page

As the description says:

If you click one of them

All the discussions will be
shown

Let’s now look at “Progress”

It shows a list of what you
and your members

have been doing with your
projects

Now, let’s go to “Everyone”

Click that and you will see this

This is where you will see the
people

who are involved in the
projects you created

On the top are the members

below are the companies
connected to the project

If you want to add more
members

Just click “Add people”

Type the e-mail address of
the new member

Then choose the project you
want the member to access

And also which calendar too

Decide whether you will give
the new member the power

To create new projects or
to be the administrator

Then finally, click “Send the
Invitation”

Same goes when you want
to add a company

Click “Make a Company”

Then start writing the details
in this form

Inside the company that
you created

You can also create another
group or department

Just click “Add a group”

Add name to the group

Then choose your members

by clicking the box next to
their names

Then click “Create the Group”
afterwards

Now that’s about the
basics of Basecamp

Lastly, let’s go to “Me”

You will see this page

This is the list of activities
that you’ve done
