Open your browser

Type in Jing

Then click Jing from
TechSmith

Click “Free Download”

For Windows users

Click “Start Windows
Download”

I’ll be using that since
I’m using Windows

It will then start
downloading

Click the dowloaded
settings

Then click “Run”

This will pop up

Don’t forget to accept
the fine print

Then click “Install”

After the installation, click
“Finish”

After clicking
“Finish”

An interactive video
tutorial will show up

So go ahead and
just give it a try

Let’s now using
Jing!

Let’s create an account first
by filling out this form

Type in your e-mail address

Your name

and your password

Select your country

Then click “Create”

See the sun-like icon?

That’s Jing!

I was able to
screenshot the whole
icon

because I
clicked
the
mouse
steadily

But
normally,
the icon
just looks
like a
raindrop

Which you can stick
anywhere on your screen

It has three options

The first one is labelled
as“Capture”

The second is “History”

and the third one is
“More”

Let’s now learn how to
capture

Once you click it

you will see this yellow
grid on the screen

You can use that to
outline the area

of the image that
you want to capture

Let’s try!

Here is my screen

I only outlined this
part of it

By dragging the grid
from here

To here

Click “Capture Image”

Then this will show up

You can give a name to
the captured image

You can also use the tools
on the left side

Then you will have
options if you want
to:

Click Share via
Screencast.com

Click “Save” to save it to
your computer

Or Click “Copy” to
duplicate

Let’s try sharing via
Screencast

Once you click that, the
picture will be uploaded

to Screencast.com and is
ready to be viewed

You can also simply view
the captured image

In the “History”

When you click it

You will see the folder
history

and the image that you
captured

Here’s another trick

Once the captured image
has been uploaded

Get a
notepad

Then press Ctrl + v

Then you will see a link

You can use this
link

to share the
captured image
to your friends

You can post it on
Facebook, Twitter,
etc.

Or if you are using
this at work

Isn’t it easier to
explain something

with the help of
captured images?

But it’s better if we
can also use a video

So let’s
now learn
how to
capture
videos

Let’s say that I want
to show

a Microsoft Excel activity

Once again, click “Capture”

Drag the mouse from the
top left corner

All the way down to the
right corner

Click “Capture Video”

There is a 3-second
countdown before you're
on!

After the countdown,
there be yellow filmstrip
like bands

On both sides

This means that a
recording is in progress

If your
computer
has a
microphone

Jing can record your
commentary at the
same time

By the way,

Jing videos are
limited to 5 minutes
only

So make the most out of
it

You can pause the
recording

If you think that you
need more time

to think of what to say
next

Or click “Mute”

If you don’t want to
include any commentary

Or click “Restart”

If you want to
do it all over
again

Or click “Cancel”

If you want to stop the
recording

Or when done, just click
“Finish”

You can watch the preview
of your video

Just click “Play”

Don’t forget to click “Share
via Screencast”

For the recording to be
uploaded also to
Screencast
