This paper introduces a hybrid algorithm combining ant colony optimization and simulated annealing to tackle the multi-depot periodic open capacitated arc routing problem (mdpocarp), a new variant that optimizes routes across multiple periods from various depots. The algorithm utilizes a nearest insertion heuristic for initial solution construction and has been tested on three benchmark sets, yielding efficient results that improve as the number of depots increases. This work contributes to the growing interest in routing problems tied to real-world applications such as waste collection and product deliveries.
