This document discusses and compares IT and ICT. IT refers to the information technology industry that uses computers and networks to manage information, while ICT integrates IT with broadcasting and communications technologies. ICT is widely used in education to support teaching and learning through tools like computers, the internet, and audio/visual networks. Some key features of ICT that help learning are speed, capacity, automation, interactivity and multi-modality. Examples are given of how ICT can be used in language learning through apps, websites, social media and video. Both advantages and disadvantages of using ICT for language learning are presented.
