This paper assesses the impact of net metering on residential photovoltaic systems in Peru, focusing on technical and economic benefits for users and the electricity distribution company. It finds that higher energy-consuming residential users gain substantial economic incentives from installing photovoltaic systems, achieving a payback time of six years, while lower consumption users see reduced benefits due to existing subsidies. The study highlights the need for regulatory mechanisms to promote distributed generation in the context of Peru's abundant solar resources.
