The DCB clutch/brake is designed to start and stop a load in the same position without cumulative error. It uses control tangs to hold open clutch and brake springs wrapped in opposite directions. When the clutch tang rotates with the input hub, the input and output shafts engage via the clutch spring. When the brake tang locks with the stop collar, the brake spring engages the output shaft to the brake hub while disengaging the clutch spring and input hub.
