                    Course Outline – Information Technology 9

Welcome to IT 9! This is an introductory course designed to provide you with computer literacy.
Some students may be very familiar with computers while others may have only the very basic skills.
This course is designed to introduce you to a variety of different software applications. Advanced use
of these programs will be explored.

Topics Covered:
    • Computer vocabulary and hardware
    • Keyboarding and Internet safety
    • Word Processing (Libre Office)
    • Desktop publishing (InDesign)
    • Presentation and Prezi
    • Spreadsheets
    • Databases
    • Game programming(Scratch)
    • Photoshop basics
    • Animation (Anim8or)

Here are some guidelines for success in this course:
   1) Attend every class, on-time with the appropriate materials
   2) Work productively in class. You will be given sufficient time in class to complete assignments.
      If you require more time for any reason, you can sometimes work at home as many of the
      programs we use are Freeware. Lunch times are also available with arrangement.
   3) In order to reduce paper consumption assignments are marked during class time on your
      computer. Assignments not ready for marking will receive a mark of ZERO.
   4) Improper use of the computer facilities will result in the loss of your computer privileges.
      Accessing computer accounts other then yours, playing games, or damaging equipment are a
      few of the behaviours that won’t be tolerated.

Tests……………………………………….. 15%
Projects……………………………………..25%

Late Assignments:
Assignments are due on the assigned date. Late assignments will be given a zero.
