Laptop
A laptop or a notebook is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form
factor, suitable for mobile use. There was a difference between laptops and
notebooks in the past, but nowadays it has gradually died away. Laptops are
commonly used in a variety of settings, including at work, in education, and for
personal multimedia.
A laptop combines the components and inputs of a desktop computer, including
display, speakers, keyboard and pointing device (such as a touchpad or a
trackpad) into a single device. Most modern-day laptops also have an integrated
webcam and a microphone. A laptop can be powered either from a rechargeable
battery, or by mains electricity via an AC adapter. Laptop is a diverse category of
devices and other more specific terms, such as rugged notebook or convertible,
refer to specialist types of laptops, which have been optimized for specific uses.
Hardware specifications change significantly between different types, makes and
models of laptops.
Portable computers, which later developed into modern laptops, were originally
considered to be a small niche market, mostly for specialized field applications,
such as the military, accountancy, for sales representatives etc

 The primary function of a laptop is to be a computer that is capable of
easily changing locations. Traditional desktop computers contain a great
multitude of fragile parts which can be easily damaged when attempting to
move the computer, especially if movement is frequent and lengthy. In
addition to this, desktops take a considerable amount of setup time, and
once in place they cannot be quickly moved.

Dimensions and Weight
 Directly related to a laptop's portability are its dimensions and weight. As
laptops have progressed and become more advanced, dimension and
weight have changed from being simple physical facts into major selling
points for laptops. Dimension-wise, most laptops boast screens around 15
inches across diagonally, with the largest currently sitting around 20 inches
and the smallest going as low as 5.6 inches across. When looking at weight,
the difference between the lightest and heaviest is even greater, with the
lightest laptops weighing less than two pounds and the heaviest being
around 11 lbs.

Netbook
Netbooks was a category of small, lightweight, legacy-free, and inexpensive
computers that were introduced in 2007. Major labels stopped producing them by
2013.
At their inception in late 2007 as smaller notebooks optimized for low weight and
low cost— netbooks omitted certain features (e.g., the optical drive), featured
smaller screens and keyboards, and offered reduced computing power when
compared to a full-sized laptop. Over the course of their evolution, netbooks have
ranged in size from below 5" screen diagonal to 12". A typical weight is 1 kg (2.2
pounds). Often significantly less expensive than other laptops, by mid-2009, some
wireless data carriers began to offer netbooks to users "free of charge", with an
extended service contract purchase.
In the short period since their appearance, netbooks grew in size and features,
and converged with smaller, lighter laptops and subnotebooks. By August 2009,
when comparing a Dell netbook to a Dell notebook, CNET called netbooks
"nothing more than smaller, cheaper notebooks," noting, "the specs are so similar
that the average shopper would likely be confused as to why one is better than
the other," and "the only conclusion is that there really is no distinction between
the devices."

Notebook
 A notebook computer is a battery- or AC-powered personal computer
generally smaller than a briefcase that can easily be transported and
conveniently used in temporary spaces such as on airplanes, in libraries,
temporary offices, and at meetings. A notebook computer, sometimes
called a laptop computer, typically weighs less than 5 pounds and is 3
inches or less in thickness. Among the best-known makers of notebook and
laptop computers are IBM, Apple, Compaq, Dell, Toshiba, and Hewlett-
Packard.
 ingles notebook
 Notebook computers generally cost more than desktop computers with the
same capabilities because they are more difficult to design and
manufacture. A notebook can effectively be turned into a desktop
computer with a docking station, a hardware frame that supplies
connections for peripheral input/output devices such as a printer or larger
monitor. The less capable port replicator allows you to connect a notebook
to a number of peripherals through a single plug.
 ingles notebook
 Notebooks usually come with displays that use thin-screen technology. The
thin film transistor or active matrix screen is brighter and views better at
different angles than the STN or dual-scan screen. Notebooks use several
different approaches for integrating a mouse into the keyboard, including
the touch pad, the trackball, and the pointing stick. A serial port also allows
a regular mouse to be attached. The PC Card is insertable hardware for
adding a modem or network interface card to a notebook. CD-ROM and
digital versatile disc drives may be built-in or attachable.
