services, online & interactive education, and transport, logistics &
infrastructure
• Using 'enabling technologies'

INNOVATE NSW – Funding Elements
 Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
– $15k: Prove the Concept – early stage development
– 3 month project period
 TechVouchers (TV)
– $15k: Prove the Technology – early stage research
– 3 month project period
 Collaborative Solutions (CS)
– $100k: Form a Consortia – full-scale development and piloting
of a solution
– 9-12 month project period

Four Criteria: (in order)
1. Innovative use of enabling technologies
Innovation, new-to-market, addresses compelling need
2. Strength of the business model
Sustainable, potential for high-growth, capacity to scale solution
3. Industry sector benefits
Tangible benefits, addresses barrier to growth across sector
4. Economic benefits to NSW
Potential jobs, export revenue, investment attraction, benefits to regional NSW

INNOVATE NSW – How to Apply
Collaborative Solutions
Goals:
• Foster collaboration between:
– tech SMEs,
– multinational corporations, and
– businesses in key sectors
• Deliver compelling, new-to-market B2B solutions
• Accelerate NSW innovation, revenue, jobs, export
Grants:
• Maximum of 25% of project costs up to $100,000

Consortium-Backed Solutions
A consortium must have:
• Consortium Lead (technology SME - applicant)
• Consortium Partner (contributes additional capabilities)
• Pilot Organisation (end-user - guides development &
pilots solution)

Lead Organisation
(Tech SME)
•Project manager, business developer
•Primary developer – holds IP
•Coordinates various components into one solution
•Commercialisation
Pilot Organisation
(Business end-user)
•Provides challenge/opportunity
•Venue for testing/piloting
•Feedback during development and following pilot
•Dedicates staff member to liaise with Lead
Partners •Data analytics software
•Platform for the solution (e.g. cloud)
•RFID chips
•Content creation
•Payment platform
•Additional research
•Marketing
•Handsets, hardware
Benefits for the Pilot Organisation
• Validate new products/solutions’ pros/cons
