Editor's Notes

  • #2: PURPOSE: Title slide SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: You may want to customize this slide for the specific customer. You may also want to include your name and picture if you intend to provide the customer with the presentation post demonstration.
  • #3: PURPOSE: This slide is intended to engage the customer quickly using our tools at the beginning of the presentation while also reinforcing information gathered during the discovery meeting. If not demonstrating with tablets, then this can be a verbal/short response question or simply a “real” verbal question not responded to with our a student response tool. ACTIONS: This slide should be delivered using constructed response > desktop screenshot without taking time at this point to discuss “how” this was completed. This should be delivered using a “teacher-student” perspective. Interesting responses should be tiled and discussed. Similarities should also be drawn from responses that positively correlate to both information gathered from discovery and information on the next slide. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Popular responses to expect are: Increased student engagement Increased student achievement Increased awareness of 21st century skills More relevant instruction Give students the tools they have come to expect
  • #4: PURPOSE: This slide introduces the whole Insight 360™ family. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: This is the foundation in which Insight 360™ developed. It is not only full of features. It is full of features that serve instructional purposes and therefore will have instructional impact that is durable.

  • #6: PURPOSE: This slide is intended to further the conversation started on the previous slide regarding the underlying, philosophical focus of eInstruction by Turning Technologies. ACTIONS: This slide is animated to help focus the discussion on the specific term with each item appearing separately. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Integrates Insight 360™ integrate into just about every aspect of the educational paradigm. Our software integrates into existing hardware, network infrastructure, and even eInstruction’s previous hardware offerings such as Mobi’s and CPS response pads. Instructional Practice What we are most proud of is how Insight 360™ integrates into instructional practice. Insight 360™ does not force teachers to work within the constraints of the technology like many products in the space. We actually believe that instructional practice should take precedence. Taking that into consideration, Insight 360™ empowers teachers to deploy instructional best practices without unnecessary, non-educational barriers. Effective and Efficient Therefore, we are able to reach our ultimate goal of providing tools that enable teachers and students to be more effective and efficient in the classroom while not compromising instructional best practice. Insight 360™ is truly a comprehensive classroom instructional system that integrates into current workflows and, most importantly, instructional practice to support your efforts to develop more effective and efficient educational environments.
  • #7: PURPOSE: This slide is intended to a continuation of the conversation initiated on the previous slide regarding the focus of eInstruction by Turning Technologies. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: The term “Classroom Instructional System” should be stressed. Insight 360™ is not a one feature tool targeted at one activity within teaching and learing, but a complete solution to meet the most common instructional activities a teachers accomplishes each day.
  • #8: PURPOSE: This slide serves to illustrate the depth of our product offerings. ACTION: This slide is animated to help focus on the tools/solutions that eInstruction offers. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Both teaching and learning are unique. No student or teacher operates the same as their peers. Therefore, we need a full menu of tools to meet their individualized needs. It is our job to ensure that you are selecting and implementing the most appropriate eInstruction by Turning Technologies solution for your classroom environments. First, we offer content creation tools such as Workspace and Workspace Connect. Although we work with ANY presentation software suite such PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Docs, SMART Notebook, Active Inspire, etc., we do have great tools to create highly interactive and engaging content. We also provide tools to deliver content. We have wireless slates that we call Mobi’s that control presentations and data collection from any place in the classroom. We know that many districts already have iPads, so we decided to take advantage of this situation by creating our Mobi for iPad teacher app. We also manufacture A full line of interactive whiteboards that easily extend the modalities of learning that can be provided in the classroom. eInstruction by Turning Technologies lives in the assessment space. You may of heard of ExamView. Examview ships with over 10,000 textbooks. Our wizard-style, formative and summative assessment creation tool is seamlessly integrated into Insight 360™ so that you have not only the most current software, but also our Learning Series which is over 15,600 questions pre-tagged with Common Core and state standards. We even tagged the questions with Bloom’s taxonomy so that you know what level question your delivering. Our newest version of Insight 360™ substantially augmented the student experience with the tools that they have come to expect. We now have web-based and native iOS tools for students to use for responses. Finally, we have the most robust reporting in the space. Teachers need data to inform their instructional practice and we give it to them in both in real-time and post instructional using graphically rich reports. All of these tools are connected through our desktop host software which acts as a communication hub. Insight 360™ and its menu of options all form a foundation which enables teachers and students to work more effectively and efficiently.
  • #9: PURPOSE: This is the introductory slide to formative instruction. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: How many of you have tools similar to the ones that I just mentioned sitting on shelves gathering inches of dust? The research is clear. Instructional products developed without a prominent educational focus will not prove as useful and have a greater potential to never gain any real traction. eInstruction by Turning Technologies has not forgotten this critical element and has developed its own spin on formative assessment called formative instruction.
  • #10: PURPOSE: This question will serve to not only “pretest” knowledge of formative instruction to guide the conversation, but also demonstrate how it can be deployed in the classroom for more efficient and therefor effective instructional practice. ACTIONS: This question is CueTagged and should be delivered to the attendees using a “teacher-student” perspective. Again, no discussion should take place about “how” the question is delivered. This slide is about demonstrating formative instruction. If a second teacher screen is being projected, you can refer to the data being gathered and briefly show its details. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Let’s see exactly what you know about formative instruction.
  • #11: PURPOSE: Sound instructional design requires teachers to evoke prior knowledge. This slide reminds attendees the key characteristics of formative assessment and sets the stage for the benefits of formative instruction. ACTIONS: This slide is animated to illustrate the flow of instruction. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: We are all familiar with formative assessment. Formative assessment is those points during the instructional process when you as teachers pause content delivery and check for understanding. It is generally that time when you are looking for head nodding or confused face. Formative assessment is also those “Do Now”, “Exit Tickets”, and small sample activities at the end of content delivery. The major issue is with the placement of the question. Due to it being after the delivery of instruction, it is limited with the data it can provide that can inform instructional practice. Think about it. Would deliver content if you knew that everyone already had a thorough understanding? Obviously, that would not be the most efficient use of time.
  • #12: PURPOSE: This slide is used to emphasize the fact that traditional formative assessment is really an isolated event. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: In addition, assessment should not be a destination or the conclusion to an block of instruction. The question should be an integral tool to inform and guide the direction of instructional activity.
  • #13: PURPOSE: This slide illustrates the melting together or seamless integration of both content delivery and real-time data collection. ACTION: This slide is animated. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: The definition of formative instruction is the melting together or seamless integration of both content delivery and the collection of data in real-time. It is assessment that is as much content as it is a vehicle for mass communication as much as it is an efficiency tool.
  • #14: PURPOSE: This slide illustrates that the question should be placed at the beginning of a content block and remain a point origin and not a destination. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Where should the placement of the question be when deploying formative instruction? At the beginning.
  • #15: PURPOSE: This slide illustrates that the cycle of data gathering can make for more targeted meaningful instruction. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: It is the constant and consistent data gathering that not only strengthens the communication in the classroom, but it also allows the teacher to target content and in turn provide more meaningful educational experiences.
  • #16: PURPOSE: This slide introduces the whole Insight 360™ family. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: This is the foundation in which Insight 360™ developed. It is not only full of features. It is full of features that serve instructional purposes and therefore will have instructional impact that is durable.
  • #17: PURPOSE: This slide illustrates the three necessary components of Insight 360™. ACTION: This slide is animated and will display the options for each component. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Desktop Host The desktop software is the hub of the of Insight 360™. We have both OSX and Windows clients. Teacher Device A teacher device is necessary to control the desktop software and provide ultimate classroom mobility to the teacher. You can choose from either our Mobi 360 or our Mobi for iPad teacher App. Student Device As I indicated earlier, Insight 360™ v2.0 now allows for, in addition to our Pulse and Spark student response pads, the web browser and the iPad to be student response options.
  • #18: PURPOSE: This slide introduces Web Access. ACTIONS: None SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Web access is the tool that allows students to respond with any WiFi or cellular data enabled device that has a modern web browser installed. Think of the possibilities!
  • #19: PURPOSE: This slide illustrates the first step students need to complete in order to use Web Access. ACTIONS: None SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Students need to first navigate to the site that eInstruction hosts for you.
  • #20: PURPOSE: This slide illustrates the second step students need to complete in order to use Web Access. ACTIONS: This slide is animated. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Students then need to enter a session code and student ID (or if configured, sticker ID) that is provided by the teacher. By the way, the session code rarely changes and is specific to the computer in which Insight 360™ is installed.
  • #21: PURPOSE: This slide illustrates the third step students need to complete in order to use Web Access. ACTIONS: This is an animated slide. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: This is the final step for students. Students simply need to confirm that they have entered the correct number sets by seeing their name and clicking on “Proceed to Class”.
  • #22: PURPOSE: This slide displays the unified student interface for Web Access. ACTIONS: None SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: This screen shot is exactly what the students will experience when a question is deployed. It is a single, unified interface similar to what they will see in their upcoming online, state testing. A single environment where they respond and view the question. This eliminates the need for the student to concentrate on both a “clicker” and projected image in the front of the classroom. The student sitting in the last row (or the farthest from the projection screen) is no longer at a disadvantage. Also students who may have visual impairments can also empower the browser’s zoom features.
  • #23: PURPOSE: Insight 360™ is about flexibility and future proofing. Web Access allows districts to remain device agnostic. ACTIONS: As each device is dicussed, you may want to check them off to emphasize your point while also demonstrating the Insight 360™’s ink features. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: This illustrates the scope of Web Access and the devices it empowers. [listed from left to right starting with the top row] Windows 7 and 8, Apple OSX, Chromebooks, Linux, iOS-iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Windows phone 7 and 6, Kindle Fire, Android phones and tablets, Motorola Zoom, and yes even Blackberry.
  • #24: PURPOSE: This is a place holder slide to prompt you to run a verbal question of your choice. ACTIONS: Launch a verbal question using either a Mobi or teacher iPad app ensuring that you narrate each action taken to deploy the question. The narration will help attendees understand one of the purposes of using CueTags in the next slide. You may have attendees use any device that you find appropriate. This would be time to use a Pulse or Spark response pad if it will be a potential device for the district. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Some suggestions for questions: A screenshot of an Internet content provider such as BrainPop, Discovery Education: United Streaming, etc. A whiteboard question inked on the fly. A question posed by an attendee to mirror what would be a “teachable moment” in the classroom where a student asks a very thought provoking question that the teacher then chooses to pose to the rest of the class. Ensure that you show during question delivery: The whiteboard feature since our competitors usually separate polling and content presentation functions into multiple apps on an iPad. How easy it was for the teacher to enable the whiteboard WITHOUT leaving the app. Remind attendees that we are replicating an interactive whiteboard experience but without being confined to one location. That ALL content without any prior preparation can be used with our solution. That this is formative assessment and in keeping with this important instructional concept, students can respond as many times as necessary using teacher feedback/instruction as a guide. That student data is entering in REAL-TIME and that Insight 360™ does not require the question to be stopped in order to see results. That you display ALL FOUR data screens in the question mode including the verbal and results tabs. This is a comprehensive real-time reporting function. Before you press stop, ensure that you gather attendee attention. The stop button is a very powerful button for the teacher because it prompts Insight 360™ to capture not only student data, but a screenshot of the question so that teachers are not required to guess what they asked students.
  • #25: PURPOSE: This slide introduces tablet features of Insight 360™. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: This is Insight 360™ with the benefits of a tablets. As of January 2014, it is not only iOS and iPads, but also a student experience including the Android platform.
  • #26: PURPOSE: This slide introduces tablet features of Insight 360™. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: This is Insight 360™ with the benefits of a tablets. As of January 2014, it is not only iOS and iPads, but also a student experience including the Android platform.
  • #27: PURPOSE: This slide summarizes the previously covered content so that it is clear what can be done and what will be done on the following slides. ACTIONS: This is an animated slide. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Again we see the number three. This time it is to emphasize that there are three ways for the teacher to ask a question. They are verbal, CueTag, and constructed response. Students also have three ways to respond as well. They can use a student response pad such as the Pulse or Spark “clickers”, an iPad, or any modern web browser on a WiFi or cellular data enabled device. It is important to remember that these devices can be used in any combination necessary SIMULTANEOUSLY! At eInstruction by Turning Technologies, we think Insight 360™ is one of the most comprehensive and easy-to-use solutions available.
  • #28: PURPOSE: This is a place holder slide to prompt you to run a verbal question of your choice. Before you press stop, ensure that you gather attendee attention. The stop button is a very powerful button for the teacher because it prompts Insight 360™ to capture not only student data, but a screenshot of the question so that teachers are not required to guess what they asked students.
  • #29: PURPOSE: This slide is an example of a CueTag question. ACTIONS: Launch this verbal question after the discussion outlined below. Locate for attendees the CueTag using the ink capabilities of the Insight 360™. The next slide will be used to demonstrate how to CueTag using the application. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: We know that teachers are “preparers”. They love to ensure that they are prepared for all events in the classroom mainly because students are extremely unpredictable. CueTags, eInstruction’s proprietary bar coding format similar to generic bar and QR codes, is the way we allow teachers to configure questions before they enter the classroom. If you remember, when we launched the verbal question before, we needed to configure the question. CueTags allow teachers to just press start with no additional actions required. CueTags also allow for additional information to be associated with a question such as common core or state standards or a small textual descriptor. We even prompt the teacher with a tag on the question button to remind them that it is tagged. [Launch question]
  • #30: PURPOSE: This slide introduces constructed response. ACTIONS: None SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: In response to these instructional needs, eInstruction by Turning Technologies created a feature called constructed response. Constructed response is the ability for a teacher to see in real-time students constructing and creating their perspectives, solutions, and responses.
  • #31: PURPOSE: This is an intentional duplicate slide. This slide will be used to demonstrate how to deliver a constructed response. ACTIONS: Launch a constructed response > desktop screenshot question after you complete the below discussion which frames the activity. While a question is active, demonstrate the ribbon and the LIVE data being obtained. Tile responses and return to desktop mode to demonstrate how you can annotate over student work to show great work, similarities/differences, or points of concern. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: CueTags made it possible to captured the answer for this question, but it was definitely missing something. I do not know about you, but when I was in school, math teachers always told me that the answer was NOT as important as the process I used to arrive at my response. We at eInstruction by Turning Technologies also believe that the process is important especially when considering modern instructional designs. It is the qualitative data that truly demonstrates how student knowledge was or, in our case IS, being constructed. We are not the only product that can capture qualitative data, but we are the only ones that can do it in REAL-TIME. This is important since it is an important construct of formative assessment. [Launch question] Let’s stop here for a moment and think what would have normally occurred in a non-Insight 360™ classroom. The teacher would have displayed this question and the students would have pulled out paper and pencil. The teacher would have made assumptions as to which students to visit based on prior performance in the class. The point here is that visits to students are made without any objective data. Teachers now have the ability to see who is engaged and who has comprehension of the topic before that make seat visits. I call this “aiming my attention” or “targeting my attention” at the students who I KNOW need my help instead of the students who I THINK need my attention. Constructed response all increases student participation because more work can be displayed per class period without the needless time of having students recreate their work on a traditional whiteboard.
  • #33: PURPOSE: This is a place holder slide to remind you to demonstrate some of the data reporting that Insight 360™ has available. ACTIONS: End your session using either the Mobi or teacher iPad app. Return to your computer and, based on your attendees desires, show them the data collected in the session you just ended. Make sure to know where the constructed response pictures are located. They are located in the Results > Scores > Choose session on the left hand side > click on the pencil for each student. The pictures are listed in the pop-up, dialogue box. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Our tools are designed to gather data in real-time so that teachers can inform their instruction immediately. We also know that trends and accountability are just as important. Let’s take a look the robust data that we just collected. I want you to also think about how your conversations within the stakeholder community could potentially change with the increased data that could be at your fingertips.
  • #34: PURPOSE: These slides are designed to provide an easy method of showing data reports without needing an Internet connection. SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS: Our tools are designed to gather data in real-time so that teachers can inform their instruction immediately.
