Memory (starting point) Use the following memory settings as a starting point and adjust them based on the memory use of your system. • 4 GB for the base operating system and accompanying software, such as antivirus, back up, and enterprise management software • 4 GB for a 64-bit content manager JVM • 4 GB for a 64-bit application tier JVM • 1 GB for the Cognos graphics service JVM • 4 GB for the query service (Dynamic Query Mode) JVM • 1.5GB for each batch/interactive report service Hardware Recommendations Copyright 2016 Senturus, Inc. - 16. • Sockets exist on a motherboard for housing a CPU • A CPU can have multiple cores: dual core, quad core, etc. • Each core can run a process and each process can run a thread • Hyper threading is virtual cores – a dual core CPU with hyper threading will appear as 4 cores to your OS and your quad core CPU will appear as 8 cores to the OS • Hyper threading is no substitute for physical cores but a CPU with hyper threading should perform better than the same CPU without Hardware Review Copyright 2016 Senturus, Inc.
