Computershare's 2012 annual report on company meetings in Australia found:
- Very small percentages of shareholders attended meetings in person, while proxy voting increased online and through mobile devices. Most proxies were submitted in the final days before deadlines.
- Voting participation increased 5.4% for the top 200 ASX companies but declined across other companies. Nearly a quarter of total votes were lodged online by institutional investors.
- More companies received strikes on their remuneration reports in 2012, with almost a quarter of those receiving first strikes in 2011 getting a second strike in 2012. Most companies decided remuneration resolutions by show of hands rather than poll.
