Class Policies
There are only five basic classroom policies.
Following these policies will help keep our class
environment peaceful and productive.
If you choose not to adhere to the policies, there
will be logical consequences.
Classroom Policies
1. Arrive on time.
2. Be ready to learn.
3. Always act and speak in an appropriate manner.
4. No personal electronics allowed during
tests/quizzes.
5. Respect the classroom environment.
BYOD
• Media Access (Cell Phones, Laptops) is
a privilege not a right.
• Follow my instructions or you will
lose that privilege.
• RED = turn it off and put it away
(testing)
• YELLOW = put it face down in the
upper right hand corner of your desk
(instructions, discussion, lecture)
• GREEN = use but stay on task (warm-
up/objective, Kahoot, research,
projects)
Possible Behavioral
Consequences

Referral to Administration
Room Procedure: Arrival
• Greet me as you enter the room.
• Complete any distracting tasks (pencil
sharpening, identifying missing
assignments, restroom, hand sanitizer) prior
to the bell.
• As soon as the bell rings complete the
Warm-up and copy the Objective. This is a
time to take advantage of BYOD.
• Remain in your seat, quietly waiting for me
to provide direction.
Room Procedure:
During Instruction
• Listen carefully as I speak.
• Refrain from touching other students and their property.
• Raise your hand and wait to be acknowledged if you have a
question, comment, or concern that you would like
addressed.
• Be polite, respectful, prepared, and productive.
Room Procedure:
Gotta Go!!!
• Do NOT interrupt instruction to ask permission to leave
• If you are going to the restroom across the hall, no pass
is needed.
• Walking to any other location in the building requires
permission AND a pass.
• Three wooden passes are on the ledge for out and back
trips. Otherwise fill out a hall pass for yourself and I will
sign.
Room Procedure:
Missing Work
• As soon as appropriate, access
hhssocialstudies.weebly.com for Warm-up, Objective,
and Homework, then Schoology for digital copies of
the assignments.
• Discuss missed activities and assignments with a
classmate.
• Find the relevant handouts (if not available on
Schoology), which are organized by date in the file
cabinet.
• Turn in missing work as soon as possible.
Room Procedure: Team Work
• I will assign teams.
• Follow the activity steps listed in your instructions.
• You are responsible for (and graded on) your efforts and the
results of the team.
• If you have a question ask your team members first. If no
one can answer, appoint one person to raise their hand to
ask me.
• You must be willing to help if a team member needs it.
• Stay in group and on task.
Maintaining the Classroom
Pick up any garbage 2mm in diameter or more.
Recycle papers (4x4 inches or more), plastic
bags, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles.
Do not intentionally deface school, personal, or
other’s personal property.
Dismissal
Work until the bell.
Clean your work area and take all garbage to
the trash can.
Wait in your seat for me to dismiss you.
Leave quietly, ONLY after you have been
given permission to do so.
Room Procedure: Fire Drill
• Calmly walk out of the classroom, and turn left.
• Follow the tallest person down the North stairs
directly to the front parking lot.
• Wait quietly for me.
• When dismissed, calmly walk directly back to the
classroom and take your seat.
When There Is a Substitute
We treat guests in our room as courteously or better than
we treat Ms. Hoetzlein.
Sit in your assigned seat ONLY.
Maintain proper voice levels.
Remain on task.
Be helpful and courteous.
»Subs will report behaviors (good & bad) and proper
consequences will be applied.
Final Thought
“Learning without reasoning leads to
confusion; thinking without learning is
wasted effort.”
~Confucius
