Mrs. Massengale’s Social Studies Class Routines and Procedures
Daily Routine
#1 Enter the room quietly and orderly.
#2 Get supplies ready, sharpen pencils, etc.
#3 Turn in any homework or notes to blue box.
#4 Open your composition book and write the day and date.
#5 Copy the “Essential Question” and agenda of the days work.
#6 Copy down the two “Daily Geography” questions. Use your text or atlas to answer the questions. About every two weeks, you will have a quiz on this information. Your composition book will be your study guide.
#7 Quietly wait for further instruction. Read your text or other book. Look at an atlas. On test or quiz days, you may use this time to study.
Classroom Procedures
Assigned Work The teacher will assign a due date. All work should be turned into the blue box.
Paper Heading On the top right side of the paper, put: Name Date Period
Late Work Assigned work is expected to be turned in by the due date. Late work will be penalized up to 10 points per day. Late work will only be accepted up until the corresponding unit test.
Make-up Work The policy is that for every day absent, one has two days to make up the work and get it turned in.
Test Re-take Policy You may re-take ONE test each nine weeks. You must attend a morning tutoring session before you are allowed to re-take the test. The re-take test will be a different test. You will get the higher grade of the two tests.
Raise hand You must wait to be recognized before speaking. No blurting out or talking during instructional time.
Instructional Time If it is instructional time, you must stay in your seat at all times unless you have permission to get up. That includes asking permission to get tissue, sharpening pencils or throwing trash away.
Independent Work You do not need permission to do things like sharpening your pencil, getting tissue, glue, etc. If, however, you are taking advantage to “walk around the room” you will be told to go sit down and ask permission next time.
Fire Drills In the event of a fire drill, you would of course get up and exit the classroom. Students are expected to remain absolutely quiet. Talking will result in a detention.
Dismissal from Class The Teacher ALWAYS dismisses class and not the bell.
