Introduction of civil engineering
Introduction of civil
engineering
Branch of civil engineering.
Scope of civil engineering.
Role of civil engineering
Engineering is the art based primarily upon
training in mathematics and the physical
science of utilizing economically the forces
and material of nature for the benefit of
man.
 SURVEYING AND LEVELLING
 BUILDING,PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION
 ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION
 STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
 GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING
 WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING
 TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING
 ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
 TOWN PLANNING
SURVEYING AND LEVELLING
Surveying includes
measurements of distance
and angles in horizontal and
vertical planes, while leveling
is the measurements of
heights in vertical .
BUILDING,PLANNING AND
CONSTRUCTION
Buildings are planned according
to the fundamental principal of
planning and bye-laws of local
municipal bodies
Structural Engineering
This branches of civil engineering
deals with the structural analysis
and design on structures.
Geotechnical Engineering
Geotechnical engineering is
that field of civil engineering
which deals with soil
investigation and design of
proper foundation of structures .
Transportation Engineering
Transportation means movement of
passengers and goods by means of
vehicles on land, ships on water and
aircrafts in air.
Town planning
Town planning means planned
and controlled growth of town by
dividing land of the town in to the
different land use zones and
regulating building construction to
provide better environment for the
people of the town.
(i) Surveying
(ii) Planning
(iii) Structural analysis
and design
(iv) Professional Practices
(a) Estimating
(b) Costing and accounts
(c) Valuation
(d) contracts
(V) Quality control and Research
(vi) Construction Management
Planning and
Scheduling
Construction
Execution and
Supervision
(vii) Maintenance of Structure
In surveying, planning, designing, estimation
and execution of structures.
To use scientific and engineering principles.
To solve different engineering problems.
To implement management techniques.
To carry out surveying and leveling with
survey instruments.
To carry out soil investigation.
To carry out planning of building.
To carry out the design of structures.
To carry out quantity survey and to prepare
estimate.
To invite tenders.
To supervise the work during execution.
To carry out valuation of land or building.
To maintain public health and protect the
environment.
To work for general welfare of people.
To carry out maintenance work of
structures.
