CAMERA WORKING
 Camera is one of the key subsystems
in smartphones
 Basic things in camera are Lens,
Aperture, Shutter and Sensor
3
CAMERA DATA FLOW
4
THE LENS
 Main Purpose of Lens is Focus the image and
Magnification.
 Lenses are classified by their focal length
 Types of Camera Lens
a) Normal lenses
b) Macro lenses
c) Long or Telephoto lenses
d) Wide angle lenses
e) Zoom lenses
5
NORMAL LENSES
 Normal lenses have an angle of view
which is roughly the same as the angle
that the human eye can comfortably
 Normal lenses is one with a mid-rang
focal length, typically around 50mm
 Normal lenses have a fixed focal length
and wide aperture
6
MACRO LENSES
 A macro lens is one designed
especially for close-up
photography.
 They produce some really eye
 A normal-focal-length macro lens
(50 mm on a 35 mm)
7
LONG OR TELEPHOTO LENSES
 Telephoto lenses compress space
 They make things look like they are closer
together.
 They make backgrounds bigger.
 They are also known as portrait lenses
 Long lenses have a focal length above 80mm
8
WIDE ANGLE LENSES
 Wide angle lenses spread out space.
 They make things look further apart.
 They make backgrounds look smaller.
 Long lenses have a focal length that is 10mm to
35mm
 They have short lenses and good for landscape
shot
 Extreme wide angle lenses are known as fisheye
lens because these can capture around 180
degrees
9
ZOOM LENSES
 Zoom lenses have variable focal
lengths
 You can set it to different focal
lengths
10
EXPOSURE
11
 Exposure is one of the most critical
elements of photography.
 There are three adjustable elements
that control the exposure:
• APERTURE.
• SHUTTER SPEED.
• ISO.
APERTURES
 It is like Pupil in our eyes
 They control the intensity of light
 it controls how much light is being
passed onto the camera's sensor.
 Aperture number are called F-stop and
means Fraction.
 Bigger Aperture =More light and Smaller
Aperture =Less light
12
APERTURES
 Aperture control the DOF (Depth of Filed)
 DOF :How much of your photo is in focus
 Wide angle lenses- Long DOF
 Tele lenses – Short DOF
13
SHUTTERS
 Shutters function like an eye lid. They control how
long light enters a camera.
 Shutter speeds are fractions of a second. Fast shutter
speeds such as 250, 500, or 1000 are good for action
shots.
 Slow shutter speeds such as 1,2, or 4 are good for low
light pictures and pictures where water looks soft and
like cotton.
14
ISO
 ISO simply stands for the International
Organization of Standardization
 ISO measures the sensitivity of the
image sensor.
 A higher ISO typically translates to a
noisy or “grainy” image.
 A lower ISO won’t just make less
noise, and Capture better colour and
dynamic range
