- 2. General Computers Computers are classified as Information Systems. They use different kinds of hardware and software to input, output, and store information and data. Computers connect to different networks to share the information and data with other Information Systems. Computers are not only used at home but also used in business environments to help organize different types of data and to keep the business running smoothly and efficiently.
- 3. Computer Software Computers use different types of computer software to run the computer. These are called System Software and Application Software. System Software is a type of software that manages the resources and activities of the computer. An example of System Software can be Microsoft Windows and Mac OSX. Application Software is a type of software that applies the computer to a specific task for an end user. Some examples of this kind of software can be Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop.
- 4. Software According To Different Systems There are different types of software that is used depending on what type of system you are using. There are different types of computer systems out there. The main two are the Apple MACS and the PC’s. Both systems are ran by two different types of system software and sometimes application software.
- 5. Macintosh PC MACs vs. PCs The operating system software that the MACs use is called MAC OSX. This software is stable and reliable, with powerful search capabilities, support for video and image processing with an elegant user interface. The most recent version of this software is called Snow Leopard. Also, the IPhones use this type of software being all from Apple Product Company.* The operating system software that the PCs (personal computers) use is called Windows. This software has improved usability, taskbar, performance and security as well as support for multitouch interfaces. The latest version of Windows is Windows 8.*
