Editor's Notes

  • #2: Get learners to introduce themselves and say what they want form today’s session.
  • #7: The term 'eLearning' can mean different things; names and descriptions are used inter-changeably, from eLearning to online learning, to technology enhanced learning and teaching (TELT).
  • #8: Reveal after learners have mention some technologiesTechnologies can include classroom applications (e.g. projectors), mobile technologies (e.g. smartphones) through to online technologies such as NOW (Nottingham Trent Online Workspace), TurnitinUK (online text-matching service), Microsoft Live Meeting (online meeting and conferencing tool), blogs and wikis.
  • #9: All these tools extend the boundaries of the teaching space, both physically and intellectually. At NTU we use many different technologies to help both staff and students. NTU aims to blend new technologies into existing learning and teaching delivery (lectures, seminars, workshops, face-to-face tutorials) to support, maintain and enhance the quality of the learning and teaching (and research) experience for both students and staff. Therefore, we embed technologies in mainstream learning and teaching practice, not because the technology exists, but to derive meaningful enhancements and exciting innovations which support the way we teach and learn
  • #10: Show part of the video so they get the point that at some stage the book was a new technology
  • #12: Integrating time and place: By putting resources online in one secure space that's accessible 24/7, you can provide a more seamless learning space that goes beyond the limits of the physical classroom Integrating the student community: You can provide virtual study spaces alongside your resources, where your students can work together in groups and share information with each other, and work at their own pace independently to build and consolidate their learningIntegrating monitoring information: You can record and monitor more readily your students' attendance and engagement with your module activities.
  • #17: When ever staff are considering uploading documents, images, videos to NOW they should also consider how accessible the resource is and whether it infringes copyright laws.
  • #18: Press F5 or enter presentation mode to view the poll\r\nIn an emergency during your presentation, if the poll isn't showing, navigate to this link in your web browser:\r\nhttp://www.polleverywhere.com/free_text_polls/LTM1OTgyMzE3NAIf you like, you can use this slide as a template for your own voting slides.
