The UK's Whole System Demonstrator trial from 2008 was the largest randomized controlled study of telehealth and telecare in the world, involving over 6,000 patients across 238 general practices in three sites. The trial found reductions of 45% in mortality rates, 20% in emergency admissions, 15% in A&E and elective visits, and 14% in bed days and costs. It was evaluated by several UK universities and institutions.
