This document discusses using the Internet of Things for smart buildings. It describes how global building monitoring can improve efficiency, control operational costs, and monitor energy consumption. Maintenance and facility management costs around 150 euros per year per square meter while utility usage costs around 18 euros per year per square meter. The Internet of Things allows obtaining a high volume of data from meters and sensors measuring air quality, temperature, presence, energy usage, and more. This data can then be analyzed to enhance relationships with building occupants and support well-being and sustainable behaviors both for the building and its occupants.
