It stars Keanu Reeves as the retired hitman John Wick is a retired Hitman who retire from his violent career after marrying the love of his life. She dies which leaves him in deep mourning. When sadistic mobsters steals his car and kills the puppy which his wife gave him as a gift. John then seeks revenge and reverts back to his old life.
- 3. John Wick’s 1min 30 second opening sequence does not gently introduces us into the world of the film, it drops us into the dark world of the retired hitman. The Director Chad Stahelski uses this few minutes to reveal the setting to us. The setting is dominated by darkness and low key lighting. The setting is downplayed as we can a city in the background but the gloomy warehouse dominates the shot.

The second thing we notice is that a black car rolls in to the shot and hits the wall a couple of times this action plays a big part in setting the mood as the crash was loud and disruptes the silent setting of the scene. There is match on action when the retired hitman opens the door of the car and falls out. His dark suit with blood dripping around him increase the curiosity of the audience as we would want to know who and what happened to the mysterious character.

When the character is bleeding and dying he pulls out the phone and this action makes the audience suspect he is going to call for help but he ends watching a video of happier times as he dies. This engrosses the audience to want to know more about the character and keep on watching the movie. That is how powerful the opening sequnece of John Wick is the various techniques the director used success full engrossed audience to finish the movie.
