IT IS THE FIFTH PLANET FROM THE SUN.
JUPITER IS A GAS GIANT,
BOTH BECAUSE IT IS SO LARGE
AND MADE UP OF GAS.
JUPITER CONSISTS MAINLY OF HYDROGEN
WITH A QUARTER OF ITS WEIGHT BEING HELIUM
AND ITS ROCKY CORE CONTAINING HEAVIER
ELEMENTS.
IT HAS A MAXIMUM LUMINOSITY OF -2.94
MAGNITUDES, MAKING IT THE THIRD
BRIGHTEST BODY IN THE NIGHT SKY ON
AVERAGE.
JUPITER ALSO HAS RINGS, BUT THESE ARE
PALE AND CONSIST MAINLY OF DUST
PARTICLES
FROM THE MOONS.
ITS ORBIT IS 4332,589 DAYS, OR 11,862
YEARS
JUPITER HAS NO SURFACE
JUPITER IS KNOWN FOR 79 KNOWN MOONS.
OF THESE, 47 HAVE A DIAMETER OF ONLY 2
TO 9 KM.
