Definition a of Computer NetworkReferred to as a Network, is a collection of computers and devices interconnected by communication channels that facilitate communications among users and allows users to share resourcesallows sharing of resources and information among interconnected devices.
History of a Computer NetworkNetworks of communicating computers included the military radar system Semi Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) and its relative the commercial airline reservation system Semi Automatic Business Research Environment (SABRE)Came about in the late 1950’sAlthough in the 1960’s the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ADRPA) started funding the design of the ADRPA in order to perfect networks for the United States Department of Defense
Purposes of a Computer Network and its ImportanceComputer networks were invented to that people all around the world could receive and send information through signals and connections to and from computer almost everywhere around the worldSo people could get signal or internet connection to view documents and surf the web (varies by person)Links many computers to the same printers scanners, monitors etc. Connects computers to the same internet connection, and enables them to share information without being concerned with it being compromised. They can be used to block websites.

Entertainment, and interacting communications with consumers and businesses or just person to personMobile applicationsSocial interacting and also browsing using internet to get informationMain types of Computer NetworksThere are three different types which we classify networksOrganizational Point of View
Geographical Point of View
Computing Point of ViewOrganizational Point of ViewNetworks are divided into twoPeer-to-Peer (also called workgroups)Based on 10 or less users and is suitable for small sized buisness organizations. Is the model of networking the resources are randomly scattered on the network with every machine acting as a server as well as a clientServer BasedA centralized model of networking with resources placed on a dedicated machine called ServerNo user limit as such as it depends directly on your hardware resources and capacity to support users
Geographical Point of ViewThree types geographical LAN
WAN
MAN/CANLAN NetworkLocal Area NetworkSupplies networking capability to a group of computers in close proximity to each other such in an office
WAN NetworkA WAN network is used for a network that covers a city, or country. This type of network is usually provided by cell phone companies
MAN/CAN NetworkA CAN network is used to link buildings within a campus together, providing direct accessibility from each building. A MAN network, like the WAN network is used for long distance, up to 30 miles. It is also used for carrying information at higher speeds, upwards of 100 megabites per second.
Computing Point of ViewNetworks are divided into two:Centralized networks:completely on one dedicated machine called server for all the processing on computing and the clients or the terminals act as dumb entities. If the client requires a certain set of data, whole of the date set is transferred at the client end which also is wastage of the network bandwidth

Network Hardware'sWireless networksWide area networksStarts from a subnet and router then connectHome networksIs a residential local area network. It is used for communication between digital devices typically in the homeInternetworksThe practice of connecting with other networks through the use of gateways that provide a common method of routing infoMetropolitan networksStarts from a antenna to internet to junctions boxes thus connect to LAN to hostsLocal area networksIs links between a building or group of adjacent buildingsHow Computer Networks Have Changed The World (Conclusion) Before computer came to be, the transfer of info between calculation machines and computers was done by humansNow in 2011, computers and machines are pretty much doing our jobs and faster and efficientlyAs time goes by, internet technology is going to grow and grow and get better, faster and easier Before we had to plug in our internet cord to get connection, then Wi-Fi was invented and almost everywhere you can receive signal for internet Also with the new technology, we are able to send documents (and other stuff) through the internet in seconds of it being received though connections
