Migration trends have significantly increased globally since 1965, with 200 million international migrants currently comprising 3% of the world's population. While migration opportunities and remittances can benefit development, they also present challenges for management. To maximize development impacts, policies should include migration in strategies and support research on flows, while upholding migrants' rights and enabling integration. Managed migration is key to ensuring supply and demand are balanced so movement works for all.
