- 3. Definition: A " mashup " is a lightweight tactical integration of multi-sourced applications or content into a single offering. It provides incremental improvements to established processes that will result in increased revenue or cost savings for an enterprise Primary business benefit: mashups can quickly meet tactical needs with reduced development costs and improved user satisfaction. - 4. on Mashups : We expect growth in mashup technology interest, experimentation, investment and implementation to continue accelerating for at least the next five years. A Gartner survey in the U.S. in 3Q06 showed that 30% of companies surveyed were currently using mashups or were planning to use mashups within the following year. That number has expanded, as shown by the 64% of executives surveyed by the "Economist" in 1Q07, that indicated they are creating mashups or intend to do so in the next two years. A 2007 "InformationWeek" Web 2.0 survey revealed that 43% of the enterprises surveyed are finding mashup technologies to be "very useful." The mashup trend is not limited to North America.
