What is LCIF?
Lions Club International Foundation
(LCIF) is the charitable Trust of the Lions
Club International (LCI) and is a public, non-
profit corporation. Donated funds are
disbursed as grants for humanitarian
projects in local communities as well as for
projects that have global impact.

 Founded in 1968 - official foundation of Lions Clubs
International, giving support to clubs
 LCIF awards first grant of US$5,000 for flooding in South
Dakota, USA in 1972.
 In 1973The Melvin Jones Fellowship program is created as
a way for donors of US$1,000 to be recognized.
 Provides grant funding for large-scale projects
 Relies on donations
 International Humanitarian Grants for Lions Clubs
International, through more than 12,582 Foundation grants,
which have totaled more than US$950 million.

• Awarded a total of more than US$100 million in disaster
relief
• Mobilized US$15 million following the South Asia
tsunami, US$5 million for Hurricane Katrina projects in
four states, US$3 million for the China earthquake, US$6
million for the Haiti earthquake and US$21 million for the
Japan earthquake and tsunami

• Awarded 1,115 Sight First grants in 102 countries for a
total of more than US$275 million
• Restored sight to 7.67 million people through cataract
surgeries
• Prevented serious vision loss for more than 30 million
• Provided over 153 million treatments for river blindness
• Built or expanded 615 eye hospitals/clinics/wards
• Trained 664,000 eye care specialists
• Conducted more than 19 million vision screenings for
children through Sight for KidsRaised more than
US$200 million for Campaign SightFirst II, making it the
greatest fundraising effort in LCIF’s history

• Trained more than 550,000 educators to implement Lions
Quest in school and community settings

Olympics athletes from 85 countries through Opening Eyes
