- #3: There is no doubt that educational technology is important. Even before COVID-19, there was already high growth and adoption in education technology We are quite sure that educational technology including distance and digital education has gained more impetus portions of the global’s interests.
- #4: Horizon 2021 just published a week ago.
- #5: In universities, colleges and schools we have lots of data, but it has traditionally been stored on paper and in filing cabinets – it’s been hard to access it and to analyse it. But this is changing. Many institutions are now collecting data more consistently and storing it in ways that it can be accessed easily and merged with other datasets to obtain greater insight on the effectiveness of educational processes.

- #17: Finally, Data literacy was highlighted by 1 paper on the importance of data literacy in the context of the increased collection and analysis of data during the pandemic. Much talk was on pandemic pedagogies and how to deal with them..
- #19: Student data is always an invitation to a conversation (Prinsloo 2019), and considering the huge impact of the pandemic on our students’ lives, their data could potentially tell many stories and invite many conversations.
- #20: questions can be raised as to the capacity of data limited to the LMS to provide institutions with a detailed view of how students are progressing and learning
- #21: the pandemic illustrated how unequal access to the internet is, and this inequality of access is gendered, raced and geo-political from contexts of the global south and also the global north!
- #22: A point worthy of consideration is whether the haste in responding to the emergency resulted in institutions, educators and students choosing technologies and applications without due consideration of privacy and ethical issues and concerns
- #23: The final point to raise for reflection is how nimble and responsive both the policy environment (both on national, regional and institutional) and digital infrastructure were in terms of responding to the increasing digitalisation and datafication of education.
