Steps for Finding Slope

1) Choose two points from the table or graph.
2) Label one point A and one point B
3) Draw a line from point A to the xaxis. Record the number XA.
4) Draw a line from point B to the x axis. Record the number XB.
5) Find the value of XB XA
6) Draw a line from point A to the yaxis. Record the number YA.
7) Draw a line from point B to the y axis. Record the number YB.
8) Find the value of YB YA

What does the slope of a line mean?

slope = Change in dependant variable
     Change in independant variable

  = Change in y
     Change in x

  = y2 y1
        x2 x1

  = Δ y
     Δ x

Δ is a symbol that means "change in"

How much "y" changes for when "x" changes.
