The Literacy Expert
• Librarians provide a calm and encouraging
environment where students can locate books that
they want to read.
• Librarians read many of the books that students read!
Support teachers by identifying and connecting them
to supplementary materials that can enhance
instruction.
• Librarians are the first line of instruction on how to
conduct library research and how to use various
reference databases/works.
• Librarians provide bibliotherapy services through
books that addresses emotional needs of students.
• Librarians drive student academic achievement and
impact test scores.

The Technology Expert
• Librarians provide essential leadership in the areas of
training students/teachers/parents in using a variety
of digital resources.
• Must facilitate schoolwide digital citizenship
instruction and support. (Common Sense Education
will become your best friend)
• Every year, master three digital applications to
support students/teachers.
• Every year, master three databases to support
students/teachers.
• Librarians celebrate and encourage inquiry,
exploration and discovery through the use of various
online tools.
