- #10: In 2015 Ohio adopted it’s own career advising policy and alongside OMJ free career planning tool was created. OMJ trainings – when I introduce the concept of LinkedIn as a potential job connector for students I’ll ask educators if they themselves have a LinkedIn profile and only a few will sheepishly raise there hands as they look at their colleagues. I remind them all that LinkedIn is not just about finding a job it’s about growing professionally & can be used as a great resource tool to grow their programs and themselves, professionally. Follow local companies and connect to businesses. Message business connections – job shadowing, internships, field trips, advisory committees Ask a subject matter expert – schedule a skype conversation All educators need to be community workforce developers – investigate business, job openings, career pathways in your local communities and share those opportunities with students and their families.
