The Validated Practices Initiative (VPI) aimed to develop coordinated, evidence-based frameworks to improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities in Louisiana. VPI was working to establish communication structures like a website and surveys. It was gathering resources on inclusive practices and drafting frameworks for instructional support, partnerships, and professional development. However, Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005 and state resources were redirected, resulting in the VPI grant not being renewed after the first year.
