Why does it matter?
Technology has a profound impact on the way students
learn and teachers teach. Over the years, advancements in
technology have opened up new possibilities and
transformed traditional education methods. While
technology offers numerous benefits, it also presents with
challenges.

Managing Technology in
Facilitating Group
Activities
Integrating technology into group activities can frustrate
students and instructors and feel like a waste of time
without careful planning and facilitation (Iowa State University, 2022).
Facilitating
Group
Activities
◦ Establish clear guidelines
◦ Define roles
◦ Encourage collaboration
◦ Offer a variety of collaboration tools
◦ Provide step-by-step instructions
◦ Provide deadlines
◦ Document participation
◦ Monitor progress
◦ Group data chats
◦ Define expectation of result
◦ Celebrate success
6
Using Technology to
Conduct Research
Conducting
Research
8
Conducting research is a critical skill students need to be
college and career ready. Research allows students to
explore new topics and develop critical thinking skills while
improving their analytical and communication skills (The
Editors, 2023).
◦ Establish Clear Guidelines/Expectations
◦ Relay Consequences
◦ Explicitly Model Conducting Research
◦ Provide tools for organizing and presenting
information
◦ Utilize age-appropriate platforms
◦ Encourage Collaboration
◦ Provide support and guidance
◦ Allow for reflection
Using Technology to
Communicate Final
Projects
Communicating
Final Projects
Students should communicate final projects using a
form of technology. Technology gives students the
power to increase their project’s visibility and impact.
◦ Offer a variety of presentation tools
◦ Set clear expectations of final project
◦ Create rubrics with students
◦ Offer support and guidance
◦ Provide feedback and time for
reflection
◦ Encourage collaboration and
communication

Conclusion
Teachers have to learn to embrace
technology in order to effectively engage and
prepare students for the future. Technology
integration offers numerous benefits and
enhances teaching and learning experiences.
Teachers must assume various roles when
integrating technology, but the benefits are
endless. Technology integration serves to
enhance instruction.
