Making Life Better
Where are we now?

We are under new ownership.
We are experiencing competition for the first time.
We are making a significant investment in the local community with our fibre
infrastructure not only to improve the quality of our products, but also to enhance the
local economy, education, and healthcare systems.
We have launched new products into the market.
We are experiencing a steep learning curve.
We need to grow these new products, whilst also maintaining our legacy product
offering.
We have hired many new employees – the company is getting bigger!
We need to justify investments already made and continued future investment.
We need faster revenue growth to continue to grow the business.
But what our employees are
telling us is that working here often leaves them with a feeling of…
Unfulfilled potential
Unfulfilled Potential
We hire great people, so how do we ensure employee
engagement and morale are high? How do we increase
customer satisfaction, improve product quality and
customer service quality? Business returns are lower
than expected because we are not the quality leader we
aim to be.

We have a big opportunity to transform WestStar by
ensuring we have happy, productive people,
all aligned behind common values
that drive better products, services
and customer experiences.
What will success look like?








We weigh our decisions against our values.
We measure & strive to beat our own benchmarks.
We don’t allow fence sitting. Either you are in or you’re out.
We all live the values.
We are proud to wear the WestStar shirt.
We make sure our customers are satisfied
We participate fully.
We respect each other and value each other (emotionally and
financially).
  We are fair and equitable.
  We are energetic and innovative.
Success =
Dynamic Growth:
the constant pursuit of fulfilling potential!
Our values
Why are we doing this?
The secret to success is…
Why are we doing this?
…AMAZING People
Why are we doing this?

…and AMAZING people work at
companies with an AMAZING
company culture.
Why are we doing this?
Why not create a company culture
that we
Why are we doing this? To…

Make Life Better
Why does culture matter?
“It’s the magic dust – the difference
between a good company and a
great one.”
“A great culture attracts great
people.”
Why get out of bed in the
morning?
Because of Our Values
Passion
We are passionate. We love what we
do. We give it our all.

“There is no passion to be found playing small –
in settling for a life that is less than the one you
are capable of living.” – Nelson Mandela
Passion
Dedication
We are dedicated. At
WestStar that means
being energized and
engaged. We not only
meet expectations. We
thrive on exceeding
them.
Growth
We live to learn. We take
responsibility for our own
development and support
our team’s efforts to learn
and grow. We believe that
growth is critical to
success.
Innovation
Growth leads to
innovation. We want to
make things better
every day and
consistently focus on
finding ways to make
the company and our
products better.
Quality
Creating the best possible consumer
experience is why we are here. We
measure to ensure we deliver as
promised, and create benchmarks which
we work to surpass.

“Quality means doing it right when no-one is
looking” – Henry Ford
Quality
Accountability
We are responsible for the
product we create. We
hold ourselves and our
teams accountable for
individual and company
performance. If
expectations aren’t met
we will shake hands and
part ways.
Reliability
You can count on us. We
deliver consistent,
dependable products.
Simplicity
We believe that when the
focus is on making things
easy – for our customers
and our employees – the
end result is a better
product and a better
place to work. Easy
doesn’t mean no work
(that would be silly). At
WestStar easy means we
focus on the effective and
efficient processes
leading to quality work.
Community
We live here. We foster connections in the
community and follow our code of
conduct.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a
stone across the waters to create many ripples” –
Mother Theresa

PARTICIPATION
Acknowledgement
We recognize everyone’s
contributions in a
respectful manner and we
celebrate creativity,
achievement, and the
resolution of problems.
Communication
Open, honest and
consistent dialogue are
key to achieving the kind
of environment where
amazing people want to
work. We share
information so everyone
sees the big picture and
are receptive to feedback
(even when we don’t like
to hear what we are doing
wrong).
Participation
You can’t play if you’re not
at the game. We show up,
we are involved and we
are team players. We
come prepared to
meetings and work. We
offer ideas, thoughts and
suggestions without being
asked. We do our
homework and are
involved.
Life is a journey…
Our values are part of who we are…
and who we want to be!
