Making Of My First Draft
Firstly I opened up Adobe Photoshop and created a blank A4 file. This was done by going file>new>blank file. A box then appeared. I then clicked on A4 as shown on the right.I then inserted my image onto the A4 blank file. The first thing I done was crop the background out and just have my model to place another background I prefer. To do this I used the magnetic lasso tool. This allowed me to just go around my model This is the magnetic lasso toolAs you can see I couldn't crop the background from the arm as I can only go around my image. If I tried to cut through the arm to crop the rest of the background it would crop my model. So I have to do this separately. This is what it looked like after I used the magnetic lasso tool. There was a faint line around my model. As you can see it allowed me to go around my model only.
To just have the model on a white background I had to copy the image that was selected after using the magnetic lasso tool. This was done by going to edit>copy.I then made a new layer to place my image on. To make a new layer I went on layer on the top tool bar then new>layer. I then pasted my image onto the new layer by going edit>paste. My image looked like this after. However the background around the arm is still there. To get rid of it I will use the magnetic lasso tool again.I went round the arm with the magnetic lasso tool. It then looked like the print screen shown on the left.
To get rid of the selected area I right clicked on it and selected ‘layer via cut’ shown on the print screen.Step 6-7 was repeated for the other arm.I then made a new layer and inserted my model onto it. It looked like the print screen shown below. The next thing I have to do is add a background. To do this I have to make a new layer to add the background. In the mean time I hid my model layer as I am concentrating on the background nowAs I want to add two colours to my background I used the gradient tool from the toolbox. This is the gradient
Foreground colourI then picked the colours I wanted by clicking on the foreground colour and background colourBackground colourA box will appear which is called the colour picker. The colours I picked is grey and white.Once I have the colours I want I picked what sort of effect I want for my background. I picked the radial gradient effect as I wanted a white circular shape around my model and to fade darker. After I selected the effect I wanted a arrow appeared so I can indicate where I want my circular shape. As I wanted it in the middle I started the arrow of from the middle going upwards to get the effect I wanted. This is shown on the print screen on the right.
My background looked like this after I added the effect. I was satisfied with this so I made my model layer visible to see how it would look like on my background The print screen below shows how it looked. I was happy with how it looked so I left it like this.
The next step I done was write my title and to make my model overlap it I rubbed out a bit of the text of the title using the rubber from the toolbar. After this I had to do is write my text over it. This is going to be done by using the text on the toolbar and I will pick the colours for my text also from the toolbar.
