Man and Machine Interface
• Ensuring the correct plant and equipment for the task is selected and maintained.
• Records of inspections and maintenance including any certification shall be available locally and must be easily
accessible by those using the equipment.
• The design of any supporting structure, including existing structures, loading bays, hoist ties, and tower crane grillages
must have evidence of a check by a competent person.
• Operative training and competency usually in the form of relevant DM Accredited Training Provider cards must be
available.
• No plant maintenance facility is permitted to be constructed on any Expo 2020 site without prior approval of the
supervision consultant and the employer.
• Always Have Proper Machine Guarding on Machines. Always Wear the Required Equipment.
• Equipment must be marked with basic details of in date certification.
• All items of mobile plant must be capable of 360-degree vision.
• Never assume the operator knows where you are or what you are doing.
• If you must walk around a piece of heavy equipment, alert the operator so that he can stop the machine before you go
by.
• Watch out and stay clear of pinch points, earth-moving equipment and cranes.
• Avoid walking behind a piece of equipment that is backing up. You could trip and fall.
• Never walk beside moving equipment or ride on the running boards or drawbar in case it slides or twists or turns or
the load shifts.
• Never ride on the top of truck loaded with masonry blocks or other materials that could shift and injure you.
• If you’re working on portable staging, scaffolds or platforms, get off while the machine is being moved.
• When wearing hearing protection while working around heavy equipment, be careful not to overprotect to the point
that you can no longer hear backup alarms or the operator.
There are several safety tips to follow to help prevent accidents in manufacturing plants.
Working around heavy equipment can be extremely dangerous. Too many workers are killed each year when they are run over or
struck by these pieces of machinery. It’s important to know the safety precautions to take when working in the vicinity of heavy
equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, cranes, Excavator, Bob Cat, Forklift, Concrete Mixture Truck, other heavy
trucks/Equipment's, etc.
Operator training/certification and license requirements, as well as inspection/certification and licensing requirements for mobile
plant and vehicles. The supervision consultant will verify the equipment and operator certification and will not permit any operations
that do not meet requirements.
