MATHEMATICS CLUB
INTRODUCTION:
One of the challenging tasks for a teacher of mathematic is to create interest and maintaininterest
among the student . The development and maintenance of interest in mathematics become an
important concern of the mathematics teacher. A resourceful mathematics teacher can make use of
good number of methods and techniques for arousing and sustaining interest in mathematics.
Learning mathematics is an informal way through recreational and fun filled activities in an
important means of non formal mathematics education. The teacher of mathematics can provide
variant activities that could sustain the student’s interest and promote students mathematical learning.
Such method includes organization of mathematics club. The mathematics clubs promote awareness
of advancements being made in mathematics and aims to educate its members.
MATHEMATICS CLUB:
“The club represents freedom of expression where as the
classroom represents conformity and repression.”

The meeting place where a number of persons meet to discuss something or to study some problems is known as club
and where students of mathematics sit and discuss together is called mathematics club. Mathematics club plays an
important role in motivating the students to learn mathematics with interest and involvement. Mathematics club
provides excellent opportunities for students to break away from the monotony of a rigid and structured classroom
environment. In the mathematics club the students chooses the activities on his own and pursues them in a free and
relaxed manner contrary to the atmosphere prevailing in a classroom. Club provides a lot of freedom of expression for
the students and it supplements classroom learning. The mathematics club will create among the students an idea of
practical utility of mathematics in addition to creating their interest in mathematics. Also a number of interesting
programmes can be organized under the auspices of a Mathematics club.
FUNCTION OF MATHEMATICS CLUB
 Mathematicsclub help in the proper utilizationof leisure
time.
 It helps in arousing and maintainingstudents in

 It provides the students with opportunities to develop their
explorative, creative and inventivefaculties

classroom can hardly provide.

needy and weak students.

ORGANISATION OF MATHEMATICS
CLUB
A properly organized mathematics club will be a valuable aid to teaching mathematics and also a
means of motivating the children for learning mathematics. Proper running of a club the most
important thing is the preparation of a draft constitution of the club. This draft is prepared by the
mathematics teacher in consultation with the head of the institution. For efficient and successful
working of mathematics club an export body has suggested to organizationas under.

 It provides first hand experiences to the learners as they participate in model making, arranging for
exhibition,fieldwork, laboratory work and so on.
CONCLUSION
Mathematics provides ample opportunities for fun and recreation. Mathematics game and puzzles open
up avenues for learning mathematics in a lucid and relaxed manner. The success of a mathematics club
depends upon the enthusiasm shown by the teacher as well as the involvement of the student in the
activities and programs organized by the club. The use of these methods makes the students perfect in
scientific jobs and developing their self confidence. The mathematics club will create among the students
an idea of the practicability of mathematics in addition to creating their interest in mathematics. Also a
number of interesting programs can be organized under the auspices of mathematics club.
EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
Maths clubs are social occasions and play an important role in building positive
relationships between teachers and children.
 They are opportunities to showcase being a maths champion and help children
become maths catalysts and maths ambassadors themselves
Through mathematics club childres can express their own creativity ,so as a teacher
we should encourage them
Developing math skills at an early age positively impacts a child's cognitive,
social/emotional, physical, and literacy development. Early math provides students
with the background knowledge they need for future achievements.
