This document discusses passive monitoring of mobile users through Wi-Fi router logs to analyze visiting patterns. It describes how monitoring logs can be used similarly to web logs by linking MAC addresses to users. Specific challenges with mobile logs are a lower detection rate and missing data fields. Methods are presented for discovering groups of friends who regularly meet in a location based on analyzing clusters in their visit times and frequencies across multiple days. Real-world testing identified mobile groups with an accuracy of over 80%.
