 Stands for Modern Language Association
 Citation style for English subjects

In-text Citation Examples

According to the American Heart
Association’s website, eating salty foods
can increase a person’s risk of heart
disease (www.heart.org).

In her book, Eating Right, Dr. Marie
Miller explains that eating salty foods
can lead to heart disease (182).
In-text Citations

Remember:
1. Book titles = italicized
      Harry Potter, Elements of Literature
2.    Articles = quotation marks
    “New Star Discovered”
3. The period ALWAYS stays at the end of
   your bookend.
     According to Sawyer, the nation was in trouble (182).
Works Cited Page

Citing a book:
Last name, First name. Title of Book. City of
Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.
Medium of Publication.
Example:
Henley, Patricia. The Hummingbird House.
Denver: MacMurray, 1999. Print.
Works Cited Page

Citing a website:
Editor/author name(if available). Name of Site.
Name of sponsor or publisher, date of creation (if
available). Medium of publication. Date you
visited website.
Example:
The Purdue OWL Family of Sites. The Writing
Lab and OWL at Purdue and Purdue U, 2008.
Web. 27 Nov. 2012.
Works Cited Page

Citing a website:
No publisher = “n.p.”
No date = “n.d.”

Date is written as day, month, and year:
