Report Wizard
Report Wizard is a step-by-step process to create basic reports. Report Wizard is
accessed from the Welcome page or on the Tools menu.
Getting Started
The first step in the Management Reporter Report Wizard prompts the user to
select from five predefined report templates. After you select the template, a
related actual and, if required, budget scenario is selected as the source of the
report data. The scenario forms the basis of the column definition that is included
in the completed report.
FIGURE 18.1 GETTING STARTED
NOTE: Additional steps in the wizard are displayed in relation to the type of report
selected.
Define Sections
In Balance Sheet or Income Statement reports, the second step of the wizard
prompts users to choose report sections and the related accounts. This
information is displayed in the row definition that is being created.
HINT: Use the Ctrl or Shift keys to select multiple accounts.

NOTE: Report section options are related to the type of report being defined. Although
the section options are predefined, the text that displays in the completed report can be
edited in the next step of the wizard.

Edit Sections
Sections and accounts defined for Balance Sheet or Income Statement reports can
be edited in the Edit Sections step of the wizard. Notice that each section displays
a related total row. Total rows are also added for items such as Gross Margin,
Net Income (Loss), Total Assets, and Total Liabilities and Equity. Place the
cursor over a total row to display a brief explanation of its contents in the
completed report.

Choose Structure
All report types display the Choose Structure step of the wizard. In this step,
users choose to either define a single report that summarizes data for the entire
company or define multiple reports based any dimensions. When users choose to
define multiple reports, the wizard creates a reporting tree definition.

Name Report
The next step of the wizard is to define a name, description, and if desired,
reporting period for the generated report. By default, the report date is set to pull
data from the period before the current operating system date. However, once
the wizard is finished, users can choose from all date options available within the
report definition.

Complete Wizard
The final step of the wizard displays the options selected in the previous steps
and the related building blocks being created for the report. Users can click Back
to make changes or Finish to complete the wizard.
FIGURE 18.7 COMPLETE WIZARD
The completed report definition displays in Report Designer, where
modifications can be made to the design through the associated building blocks.
If the generate report option is selected in the Name Report step of the wizard,
the completed report is opened in Report Viewer.
Dimensions and Special Characters
Management Reporter allows users to define the logical positioning and lengths
for dimensions in each building block. Management Reporter supports the use of
special characters as a way to identify multiple dimension values without naming
each item individually.
