 KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY
 PERVASIVENESS OF TECHNOLOGY
 EDUCATION FOR ALL GOALS
 PRESENT AND FUTURE NATIONAL STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
 AIMS OF THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVES
TOWARDS TEACHER DEVELOPMENT AND STANDARDS
RELATING TO THE ICT.
 Knowledge society- can be defined as a
human society, in which knowledge should
bring justice, solidarity, democracy and
peace. Knowledge can be used as a tool
that can be a force for changing society as
a whole. A society in which should provide
collective and unbiased access to everyone.
A society filled with people who are
knowledgeable and people who have an
eagerness to learn . A knowledge society
views education as a tool that unbounds
them from the shackles of poverty and it
prunes individual who are liberated.
1.KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY AGENDA
 knowledge- its understanding of or information
about a subject
 Society - a large group of people who live
together in an organized way, making
decisions about how to do things and sharing
the work that needs to be done.
PICTURE 1

 it’s a society that provides information to everyone
A society which views education as important and in which
knowledge should bring justice, solidarity, democracy and
peace.
 A knowledge-based society refers to the type of society
that is needed to compete and succeed in the changing
economic and political dynamics of the modern world.
 We are changing as a society and becoming a more educated and we rely on the
knowledge of our citizens, and becoming more knowledgeable as we progress.
In order to build a Knowledge Society it
needs to be incorporated with Information
communication technology. It means in
the process of teaching and learning
technology must included, it must become
an essential tool in the classroom.
Including technology
in
 in the classroom is very
 essential, it can be used
as a tool. It facilitates
 better learning and
teaching
 Teachers need to develop new aptitudes in
order to be fully qualified to teach in the
knowledge society, because one needs to
understand that it is a changing society and
we need teachers who are trained and fully
compatible with the knowledge society.
 In order to arrive in a knowledge society we
need new knowledge that cannot diminish to
traditional disciplines. We need knowledge
that cannot destroy our traditional disciplines
because we are a society that has a rich sense
of culture and technology.
2.PERVASINESS OF TECHNOLOGY
 Pervasive computing is a
circumstance, that’s how one can
describe it.
 It is the union of wireless technology and
electronics and even internet is included.
 The pervasive computing it is also called
as omnipresent computing, the word
omnipresent it means exits.
 If technology users carefully consider both
the advantages and shortcomings of
technology use, they are more likely to
maximize the gains and minimize the
losses.
EXAMPLES OF PERVASINESS TECHNOLOGY
 In our daily lives, the day to day activities
that one must accomplish, when one
tends to look at it we need technology to
accomplish those duties.
 Mobile phones are a pervasive platform
for opportunistic sensing of behaviours
and opinions. People would rather use
technology rather than using anything
else because it make s things more easier
and achievable than doing it any other
way.
 In the educational context we need to
understand that things are
changing, learners are more
knowledgeable and as teachers its our
duty as in teachers to assist especially in
classroom level
 When students read from the screen
instead of from a hard copy of a
book, what are the gains and losses?
What about when they take classes online
instead of face to face? Or when they
use Internet resources instead of those
from the library?
3.EDUCATION FOR ALL GOALS
 Education is very important and must be seen
as one of crucial aspects that a country can
invest in.
 In order to assuage and make the living
conditions of the society better we need to
invest in education and see it as a long term
aspect.
 In the society that we inhibit we know that
there are inequalities amongst us, and that
not all of us can be equal in order to address
the issue of inequalities education is the only
tool that can combat it.
Poor society Middle class society
The only tool that we can use to address the inequalities
is education. Learning to strive.
 Education validates people’s self-worth
that they actually mean something to
society and that they are someone
 It enables people to take charge of their
own destinies and be the driver of their
own personal life instead of just being an
observer in their own lives.
 It gives people the confidence of taking
care of their own families and being a
valuable member among the
community, being responsible and also
taking charge of their own responsibilities
 Quality education and technology shifts are
necessary to solve present day problem, that we
are facing as a society. Learners deserve only the
best of education system.
Picture 1 Picture 2
 Shifting away from picture 1 and giving learners
the best of quality education.
 As a teacher its very important to continually
develop yourselves, in order to empower others.
Economic growth Empowers woman
Fights sickness Alleviates poverty
QUALITY
EDUCATION
 As much as education is important in our
daily lives, Technology, Science and
Mathematics are very much important
and as a country we are faced with a
shortages regarding this subjects.
 The problem facing the country is that we
are faced with a shortage of teachers
who are qualified to teach those subject.
That is why it is very important for teachers
to continually upgrade their skills and
equip themselves with necessary skills.
 Universities play a very crucial purpose in our lives
because as individual it equips us and it serves us
with three purposes:
1. They train and educate people in order to prepare
them for the world of work they give them the
necessary skills.
 2. Secondly they are most leading institutions in
producing knowledge and also creating new
knowledge, they also set norms and standards for
the society.
 3. Thirdly higher education provides prospects for
social mobility and makes us become all equal.
 That is why it is important for learners to have access
to quality education from the beginning of their
schooling till university level.
4.PRESENT FUTURE NATIONAL STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES.
 The main aim of the department of education
, by the year 2015 they aim to provide free
education for all citizens.
 By the end of 2030 the department of
education aims to achieve a lot of set of
objectives , in order to maintain a high quality
education for each and every individual.
 The main aim for the objectives is to make our
education a, fair education system.
 Aspects that the government need to be developed:
 Early childhood development is very important this
means that the development of the child’s
emotional, physical, cognitive, sensory and social
from birth and school going age.
 Early childhood development means teaching or
children having access to centres where they can be
taught the necessary skills needed.
 Early childhood development should not only
concentrate on primary education but learners
should be developed an early age.
 Early childhood development from an early age
1. Early childhood development is important, from
the picture the infant looking at the pictures, is
developing the child's cognitive skills.
2. Developing the
child's reading skills
at an early age, in
kindergarten level.
3. Providing free and compulsory quality
education to all learners in the country.
 Providing a healthy feeding scheme for school children.
 Presently the government introduced feeding scheme in each and
every public school were learners are offered lunch to eat, by doing
so the government is eradicating child under-nutrition, so that
learners can have proper balanced diet.
BEFORE AFTER
 Better learning and teaching can be achieved with a child having a full
stomach.
 SCHOOLING
 Teachers play a very crucial role in the education system
of South Africa and the biggest challenge that we are
currently faced with as a country is that, the are many
teachers who are in the profession but do not possess
the qualifications that is needed for the profession.
 That is why the government needs take initiative in
order to develop us, the teachers of the country;
especially in the field of Mathematics and Science.
From the saber-tooth curriculum we learned that
society needs to learn something that is related to
the current surrounding they are living, the curriculum
must cater for their needs.
INCREASE ADULT LITERACY AMONG WOMAN BY 50%
 We a faced with a huge number of illiteracy
in our society, the government aims to
improve that by offering workshops that will
improve the lives of people.
 Illiteracy is mostly affecting woman in the
country and it as outcry because government
is supposed to empower woman.
 The government has also funded (ABET)
schools where elderly people can go and try
to improve their numeracy skills so that we
can be a better society.
FURTHER EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING
 further education and skills development needs to give
learners a clear and meaningful education especially
when it come to terms with further education especially
for learners who have obtained low marks in the
National Senior certificate.
 In our country we are faced with the high rate of
illiteracy and its very important for the government to
provide elderly people with proper life skills that will help
them attain better jobs.
 In our country we have a very high number of dropouts
and that causes distress.
 Develop teachers in the schooling area
 Increase adult literacy among woman
 Improve the further education and training skills program
HIGHER EDUCATION
 Higher education is considered very much
important especially in a learners life by doing so
university need to set mission statements that tells
us in details what it wants to achieve and how
their students will be after doing a course
 Universities need to be up to standard because
we are all products of schooling and it Is very
important for universities to continually asses if their
achieving their objectives as an institution that
provides higher learning.
