The RPG puzzle adventure game
My idea of my game.
The idea of my game is an RPG advurture game based more about fantasy like
magic, dragons and wizards. But with my game I aim to make it not like
usual RPG games, I want to try to implement a different feel to the game. I
want to try to make my game have a feel of a puzzle game but while also
containing the bare bones of a RPG, like combat, trading and quest.
Most general RPG games revolve around combat. Most RPG games with
combat usually have a lot of content but they just get boring quickly due to
them being so similar to each other. So I want to try to include a different
aspect to RPGs.
Inspiration
The inspiration of my game is different variations of RPGs but also I was
inspired by some mystery games and puzzle games. The games I chose for
inspiration have a lot of things in common but have several things different
about them. The Games I chose for inspiration wasd games such as
Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy Series, Fire Emblem Series and Kingdoms
Of Amalur and Snake:Nimble Quest. Snake:Nimble Quest is a RPG puzzle
game on the iOS and Android but however I don’t want my game to be like
that, I want it to have like a minigame of puzzles for upgrading heroes and
getting/unlocking skills.
The other games gave me the idea that I wanted to have it an RPG, mostly the
earlier versions of Fire Emblem with it being 2D and the game Kingdom
Hearts gave me the idea that my main character could just be a normal
person, not anyone special. The game series Final Fantasy gave me the
idea that I wanted my game rich in story.
Background on the story
From a young age Blink (the main character) was always a shy boy,
who had a thing for magic. Blink was learning from an arcane
master, after one of his lessons he came across a gem type
substence, but the gem had dark secrets hidden inside of the stone
which could let whoever the wielder is to reach unimaginable power.
At the time Blink was young and he treated it like a good luck charm.
Years went by and his magical skills flourished due to his gem.
When he reached the age of 18, his magical skills had no bounds but
with this power he now had he drawn attention to his small village
which leaded to it being attacked and plundered, in search for the
magical gem. Blink awakes and the town is in flames, too late to do
anything about it.
Target Audience
The target audience would be aimed for both genders from
the ages of 15+. I feel like the game would be appropriate
for the target audience because RPGs and Puzzle games
generally appeal to around that age.
Whats in my demo currently.
At the moment in my game I have:
Partically working enemies
Examine text for some areas
Working movement
Movement to different layouts
Some working animations
What’s needed to be done.
I need to work on:
Sprits
Shops and Shop system
Puzzle Minigame for upgrading skills
Bug fixes on enemies
Music
More stable combat system
More party members (possibly)
