 The Project entitled“National Library and Information
Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-
LIST)”,being jointly executed by theUGC-INFONET Digital
Library Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-
AICTEConsortium, IIT Delhi provides for i) cross
subscription to e-resources subscribed by the two
Consortia, i.e. subscription to INDEST-AICTE resources for
universities and UGC-INFONETresources for technicaluniversities and UGC-INFONETresources for technical
institutions; and ii) access to selected e-resources to
colleges. The N-LIST Project provides access to e-resources
to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and
other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at
the INFLIBNET Centre.The authorized users from colleges
can access e-resources and download articles required by
them directly from the publisher's website once they are
duly authenticated as authorized users through servers
deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre
 Easy access to information any where any time
to any one without physical existence.
 The potential to display materials that are in
inaccessible formats, for instance, large volumes
or maps.

 Enhanced search ability, including full text.
 Integration of different media (images, sounds,
video, etc.)
 The ability to satisfy requests for surrogates

 Today, e-resources have become a major field in
the world literature. Electronic publishing are
those publications, which are found in electronic
or digital media. The electronic documents are
made available either on CD-ROMs or on the
Internet. The electronic documents, which areInternet. The electronic documents, which are

documents while those on the Internet are
known as online documents.
 All types of documents are available through
internet or network. Publishing industry has
been heavily depending on it. In formally we can
divide all available resources in two categories
i.e. Paid resources, Open access resources.
The Project has four distinct activities and
components,
 To subscribe and provide access to selected UGC-
INFONET e-resources to technical institutions (IIMs,
IITs, IISc, IISERs and NITs) and monitor its usage;
 To subscribe and provide access to selected INDEST
e-resources to selected universities and monitor itse-resources to selected universities and monitor its
usage;
 To subscribe and provide access to selected e-
resources to all Govt.aided/non- aided colleges and
monitor its usage; and
 To act as a Monitoring Agency for colleges and
Evaluate, Promote, Impart
 training and monitor all activities involved in the
process of providing effective and efficient access
to e-resources to colleges.
 Universities: 100 universities covered under the
UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium can now
accessWeb of Science.
 Technical Institutions: IITs, IISc, IISERs and
selected NITs (i.e. core members of the INDEST-
AICTE Consortium) can now accessselected e-
resources namely Annual Reviews, JSTOR,
Project Muse, Nature and Taylor&Francis.Project Muse, Nature and Taylor&Francis.
 Colleges: All colleges including Govt., Govt.-
aided as well as non-aided colleges (except
colleges imparting education in agriculture,
engineering, management, medical, pharmacy,
dentistry and nursing) can now access selected
electronic resources including electronic
journals, electronic books and bibliographic
databases. These resources include more than
6000+ e-journals and 97,300+ e-books.

 E-resources of NLIST can be accessed by the users
with the help of a valid user Id and password. The
colleges registered under NLIST have to prepare a
list of authorized users of the college such as
teachers, students, staffs in the prescribed format
for the purpose of getting User Id and Password
from the INFLIBNET centre, Ahmedabad. After
obtaining User Id and Password from the INFLIBNET
from the INFLIBNET centre, Ahmedabad. After

centre, user can access e-resources by login at
NLIST site i.e. http://nlist.inflibnet.ac.in.

 User’s awareness is very much essential as
many users do not know how to access. The
INFLIBNET Centre conducts Awareness and
Training programmes in various universities
to generate awareness regarding availability
of e-resources to colleges under the N-LISTof e-resources to colleges under the N-LIST
Project. Besides, universities are also being
encouraged to conduct awareness training
programmes for its affiliated colleges.
Besides, N-LIST website host online tutorials,
user guide and spoken tutorials for e-
resources covered under the project
 Colleges should have adequate number of
Internet-enabled PCs and connectivity to
Internet so as to access e-resources through
N-LIST
 The N-LIST Project has initiated Inter Library Loan
(ILL) services for the benefit of users from colleges
enrolled under the NLIST Project. All faculty, staff
and students from member colleges are welcomed
to use this service and request journal articles and
chapters from books that are not available through
resources subscribed under the N-LIST Project. Theresources subscribed under the N-LIST Project. The
requests for articles can be sent online using
Online ILL Request form available on the N-LIST
website (http://nlist.inflibnet.ac.in/article/). This
service is free of charge. Users are required to log-
in with their username ID and password to request
articles using N-LIST/ILL Service. The username ID
and Password for ILL requests are the same that
have been provided to the users for accessing N-
LIST resources.
 How to Access E-Resources through N-LIST?
 Follow the steps given below in order to access e-resources
through N-LIST Programme
Login
 Launch your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer or
Google Chrome) and Log on to
 http://nlist.inflibnet.ac.in. Enter Your Username and
Password in text entry box and click
 on Login as shown below. If you do not have username
and password, please contact
 your college authorities to register with N-LIST
and obtain username and password.
 On successful Log-in, a list of e-resources
subscribed through NLIST Programme

Access E-resources
 Click on the desired e-resource to reach out to
the full-text e-resource on publisher’s
 website. For further help in search, browse
or navigate articles / book chapters
 through publisher’s website, Click on User Guide / Help
from navigation bar and download user manual and
tutorials.

 Faculty, staff, students and researchers from
colleges covered under the 2F / 12B Act of UGC
are eligible to access e-resources through the N-

Programme as yet.

 With the advantages of the information age the
libraries have brought new opportunities to
enhance their services. Using new technologies
to achieve the highest degree of security
possible if new technologies are ensured and

 The INFLIBNET Centre Ahmedabad is providing
NLIST subscriptions free of cost to all the college
libraries of India which are under 2F/12B section
of UGC.. So it the need of the hour that all
college libraries of india must avail these
facilities put forwarded by INFLIBNET.
