- 3. 3 Unit 1 Understanding Mindset This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of how employability can be affected by their mindset, focusing on the key qualities sought by employers. The learner will: 1. Understand how mindset can improve employability The learner can: 1.1 State what mindset qualities are attractive to employers 1.2 Identify what qualities they already have 1.3 Outline why honesty, commitment, flexibility and accountability are key qualities to employers 1.4 Give examples of when they have been honest, committed, flexible and accountable 1.5 Outline how own mindset qualities could affect their employability 1.6 Identify actions to improve own mindset qualities 1.1 : In clear sentences, state what mindset qualities are attractive to employers Having a good approachable attitude, meaning that anyone can come to you for help or advise if fellow employees are need of some assistance. Also, the ability to strive to get the work done to the highest possible as can be achivied is good attribute to have equipped whilst in a working environment. 1.2 : Identify the qualities you already have that are attractive to potential employers I'm passionate about the work I try to portray, and I can devout myself to idea or vision that wants to be seen though. I have good attendance; I am rarely off ill and that is a good attribute to have as company employers like a member of staff that is always avidable when you need them. Also, I have good time management skills I'malways never late on the morning to arrive at places and being on time is important.
- 4. 4 1.3 : Outline why honesty, commitment, flexibility and accountability are key qualities to employers Honesty is like trust, if your honest, around others around you then people will be more willing to spend business with you. It also helps to keep everybody on the same page as each other and to make sure, that nothing missing that needs to be finished. Commitment is a valuable asset to any kind of company project or any visionary assignment as even when things don’t go the way they are planned to go, it’s a good back-up to know that someone won't just easily give up on something that your whole team had been working on. Flexibility is key to a lot of aspects to a job, when fellow employees might sometimes need extra time that they have altered to you. So, you must change a few things around again in order to make it work and be a success. Business who adapt survive, ones that don’t, I left in the dust. Accountability being responsible for yourself, your work, other people's work and fellow employee's health and safety etc., are vital as following work rules and enforcements as well as the governments law is penicicle to any kind of work environment. 1.4 : Give examples of when you have been honest, committed, flexible and accountable When I was behind a little bit of media college work, I had to tell one of my lectures about it as soon as possible as the files that I had become corrupt. (Unfortunately) He was fine with it as I was honest about it and told him sooner rather than later because if I did tell him later, I may have gotten him angry as he would have been misinformed this entire time and portraying a false confidence in me. One of my college promo videos was still not turning out to be the way I want to be. Most of my other colleagues that I worked with had moved on and where just satisfied by a mediocre looking final project. But I wasn’t, I stuck in and made it the best that it could be. Regardless of how small the video was or how big it was, I committed myself to that project and it gladly paid off.
- 5. 5 1.5 : Outline how mindset qualities could affect your employability If you come with a mindset say your slouching on the chair and mumbling your word in the interview you are not going to get the job, really are you? Since the first impression of you from the employer is very important. If you go in however with a bright, positive attitude and are looking interested in being there, then the employer will get a very good first impression and might write down something like, “he was good, let's consider him other the guy” etc. 1.6 : Identify actions to improve your own mindset qualities Eating a good, well-balanced healthy diet, going to bed at a sensible time so apon working up you feel refreshed and positive and ready to go. Dedicate the same devotion that you try with a hobbies e.g like practicing an instrument can be replicated in the same way as getting familiar with companies surroundings, practicing on new programs that you haven't used before, a good mind set of practice is a good mindset to have for life and work. Unit 7: Managing your time This unit introduces learners to timekeeping as well as time management. It covers developing a sense of responsibility and control when it comes to time, how to work with appropriate people (eg supervisor) to identify priorities, how to identify when support might be needed and who to ask.
- 6. 6 The unit will look at why punctuality, reliability and the need for preparation are important in the workplace. Learning outcome 1 The learner will: 1. Also, lunch times in workplaces can be used to finish off little pieces of leftover work that needs completing, so it's done before the afternoon session begins. 1.2 Review your own time management and identify areas where you could improve I do have some trouble now and again to discipline myself to not indulge too much into my hobbies and ignore the other important things around me e.g. like work that I need to do. I love my hobbies a lot and sometimes a little too much way they do become a little distracting sometimes. 1.3 Plan your own work activity, with appropriate support from others Way back in September just as the course was really starting our intimal task was to make a college promo video with a couple more of my fellow colleagues. We were given the basics of how to use the camera equipment was a huge learning experience for us, as afterwards we all decided to get good and familiar with equipment that was around us and practiced using it too. 1.4 Carry out a work activity within planned timescale When we were behind with some of my lecturers old work, we had to catch up because we were slightly behind, however we managed to get it done in the time scale which was set for us. - 8. 8 2.1 Describe 2 different time-related problems that can lead to disruption in a place of work When someone might offer something radically new. The difference between certain new ideas of other people can stop the work from flowing smoothly. Some persons assignment may not be totally finished yet and they are behind everyone else that can be problem as fellow work colluges will want to move on to the next piece of work but they can’t because they have to wait for you to catch up. 2.2 Identify where you can access support when you run into difficulties with time management The Sunderland college Moodle site is full of plenty tutorial units and excises for you to practice on, also I can always e-mail my lecturers or talk to them in person if, whenever I am in need of some help or guidance. Learning Outcome 3 3.1 Give two examples of why punctuality is important in the place of work, identifying the consequences of not being punctual Being punctual is very important as arriving on time allows for smooth attendance and workflow, also it gives out the impression to your own employers that you can be reliable and have good time management skills and accountability. The consequences of not being punctual can be very serious as then people cannot rely on you to have any good workmen qualities at all for example, if you can’t arrive on time simply for work, what kind of impression does your punctuality make on the employer, and what kind of impression will that generate to all of your other working attributes. E.g., if you cannot arrive on time then what will be your time management skills be like on deadline meetings for example? Not being able to hand in work on time overshadows the same problem of you not arriving on time. This makes your other fellow employees not wanting to trust you, as they can’t rely upon you, to get anything done. Let alone your puctionality problems. 3.2 Identify what is meant by reliability in each of the following Work-related contexts:
- 9. 9 Friendly- being friendly in a work place is highly valuable as there is no good in being arrogant or selfish to other fellow employees, as you will become an unlikeable colluge to work with and everyone in the workforce might hate you. Also it could lead to you losing your potential job as employers will not torte aggressive or unkind behavior in their work placement. There is no good in having a service that is extremely unreliable and untrust worthy as your customer service acts as your direct civilian contact with the face of the company. If your costumers do not like the staff or service that they are being assisted by, then it leaves a somewhat negative impression of the company and the overall face of its entire franchise. Unit 33: Writing a CV Learning outcome 1 The learner will: 1. Know the type of information usually included in a CV The learner can: 1.1 Identify the type of information usually included in a CV

Produce a CV The learner can: 3.1 Choose a suitable layout for a CV 3.2 Produce an accurate and appropriately laid out CV using IT Learning outcome 1 1.1 Identify and list the type of information usually included in a CV Contact information- Without contact information how are supposed to find the potential employee that you want to poinetaually hire for the job? Certifications- Attendance awards, hard-working related awards, counciling or community awards or even graduation awards. All of these things can and will put in a more much higher steed than everyone else. And also it will overall impress the employer as well.
- 11. 11 Education- How else will you get job without any kind of basic education? Primary schools, Secondary schools, GCSEs etc. They are crucial not just for next step educations but employments too. Work experience- (Very Optional) But having work experience already gives you a small advantage towards someone else you know what a potential job envoirment is like and how it behaves too. Also, employers love experience as it shows you’ve gained knowledge and wisdom. 1.2 Collect the information they will need to create a CV ensuring it is accurate and up to date.
