Online behaviour

   - The simple language
Remember the human

You only have words – would you say it to the
  person’s face?

And would you want Grandma to hear or
 read it?
No discriminatory comments
Do not lower your own ethical/personal
behaviour standards just because you are
 behind a screen.

You must never belittle, harass, or vilify others.
Respect other people’s time

Don’t ramble – get to the point

Don’t post multiple copies of the same
response to different threads in the same
 discussion board.
Make yourself look good online

When participating in online discussions, you
will be judged on your ability to express
 yourself effectively in writing.

Spelling and grammar do count in this course -
so brush up on your skills. (sms language is
gr8 some of the time though. lol)
Share your knowledge

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t be
    shy about sharing expert knowledge.
Keep flame wars under control

It’s not just about knowing 000 - flaming is the
posting of strongly held opinions that may
   be deliberately provocative

May be amusing at first but they can become
 boring and inappropriate very quickly

Avoid offending others
Respect other people’s privacy
Be careful about the content of your
  messages.

Your course discussion boards are confidential
  spaces

Don’t forward sensitive information to others
 without the writer’s permission.
Be forgiving of other people’s mistakes

Everyone was a discussion
board beginner once.

Let them know privately if they have done
something that is a real no-no, but it’s best
to assume that they don’t know any better,
rather than they have done it deliberately.
Have fun & learn

Enjoy the experience

Get to know each other

Be respectful
