 The PTO is looking for volunteers to do
 concessions at the elementary for sporting
 events. They would also like help handing out
 fundraiser orders when they take place. If you
 are interested in volunteering, please contact
 Michelle Lewis 231-580-5891.
5th and 6th Grade Musical Rehearsal
Rehearsal will be held Tuesdays &
Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm, and on
some Mondays (when there are no staff
meetings-I will send home a note on
Friday). If a student has a speaking part
they must attend at least one weekly
rehearsal. Please have prompt
transportation available for you child on                 3rd Floor Food Drive
the days he and/or she stay for rehearsal.
                                              Mrs. Nawrot’s class is organizing the fall food
                                              drive. All the 3rd floor classes are collecting
                                              canned, boxed, and packaged food. They will be
                                              having a competition between the classes from
                                              Oct. 1 – Nov. 2. The 3rd floor class who collects
                                              the most items will receive a free out-of-uniform
                                              day and a movie reward. Last year the 3rd floor
                                              collected 2,042 items for the local food pantries.
                                              PS – We have $327.50 in Boxtops so far as well. 

                                                     been assessing students’ knowledge and now
                                                     it’s time for…another assessment! It may
                                                     seem that we spend so much of our time at the
                                                     beginning of the year making students take
                                                     tests. It’s true! It’s one way we can determine
                                                     how our kids are performing. But, it’s not the
                                                     only way. Throughout the year, we are
                                                     exposing kids to a wide variety of activities in
                                                     and out of the classroom to get their light bulb
                                                     to turn on. We are accountable for helping
                                                     students grow academically but just as
                                                     importantly we are responsible for helping
                                                     them discover and develop their passions. It
