Simulations were used at the University of Glamorgan Law School to help students learn. An existing personal injury simulation from Glasgow Graduate School of Law was adapted for use with Glamorgan students. The simulation involved students working through the case over 8 weeks in teams representing claimants or defendants. Student performance and engagement improved, with examination results increasing by 10% and better assignment submission rates. The simulation was later adapted for use with computer science students on other topics like domain name disputes, with similarly positive results. Reusing existing high quality simulations can save on development time while still achieving learning objectives.
